Longevity Of A Noodler's Ink Ahab?

Oddly enough, I've run into the exact same problem on my Ahab and I bought it brand new just a year ago. It's like the screw thread part of the piston expanded a little bit so it won't screw on tightly anymore. No cracks or damage that I can see. I'm going to try shellacking the piston on according to another FPNer's suggestion to keep it usable. The plastic my piston piece is made of has yellowed significantly--looks just like the one in your photo, although I thought that was ink staining rather than aging, as it's been inked continuously with Bad Green Gator, which has yellow pigments in it. It hasn't been subjected to any more rough treatment than any of my other pens.

Don't sweat the small stuff....and it's all small stuff.

The way you go through ink you might want to invest in a Custom Heritage 823 and have the nib converted to flex.
