Thanks for the review. While this isn't my favorite blue ink, it does behave very well in one of my Parker 61s with a capillary filler, and I ran the ink for several months awhile back (just refilling the pen when it ran dry).

BSB is a brighter and more intense, but a somewhat similar color (a purple leaning bright blue). IIRC it has less shading than Eclat de Saphir (but then I also tend to limit its use to pens that are "BSB-dedicated" because it's very alkaline, and will interact badly with other inks; plus, I dilute it slightly because it feathers badly sometimes).

Edelstein Topaz is a completely different color -- it's turquoise blue, and has a fair amount of shading.

I find BSB to be very temperamental, it feathers and as inkstainedruth says it also interacts very badly with other inks so you need to be careful with it and clean your pens thoroughly. I keep a pen just dedicated to BSB because I find it a pretty color.

Eclat De Saphir on the other hand is one of my favorite blues for the color and for how well behaved it is. It writes extremely smooth, I find that it makes me scratchy nibs more tolerable. The color is slightly more muted and purplish than BSB. I use this as the ink in my work pen because I know I can rely on it, and it looks professional.
