I'm going to have to rethink Empyrean. I had it and it just didn't motivate me.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I was disappointed with this one since I didn't get any sheen. Wrong! The fading light fooled my eyes. :yikes:

Just playing with inks and looking for combinations. Here's group of cyan-turquoise blues --they're very pretty, but except for one or two, not profound or "soulful" (IMHO).

Ok..you need to come visit. After doing the Shawndo samples, I can add a few more to your like and love list.

In response to the cyan-turquoise swatches, here are some of the medium blues in a face-off:

Long ago, the award for ultra-intensity went to BSB, but less retina-searing are Éclat de Saphir (2nd place) and Skies of Blue (3rd place). How would everyone else vote?

I like BSB the best. I have Skies of Blue to add to make my favorite mix.

ALL are yummy. Great combo.

If only there was a way to ensure ink (color) would not mix. DTT and Elderberry would be an awesome shading combo.

Right! And then there's the sheen, to boot! Or how about DTT and South Seas (Inspired) Blue? That could be a wonderful combo!

Ok, coming late to this thread (as usual...)

I was testing out a new Little Finch journal, distributed by Aldi, with some various inks.

fpn_1422250597__morebluesadjscl.jpg

These are as close to the original as I could get, given the flakey fluorescent light in this room, and is missing a little of the vibrancy of the original.

Note that the Standard Blue, the Reference Blue, the Blue Against Which All Others Are Judged is in the top left-hand corner.

I used the same pen for all, a Huashilai 3000 nib inserted in a Tachikawa nib holder, and rinsed with clean water and shaken dry between inks.

The inks I have by L'Artisan Pastellier tend to be really pale, but this one looks pretty vibrant. Good to know...

And as I finish up inky portraits of my colors, I saw that these sheeny kids did not have their pictures in the yearbook. Glad to know you!
