"All in the golden afternoon / full leisurely we glide," etc. What a great incipit. This is Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland by the way.

Pen is Wing Sung 618.

Ink is Pelikan 4001 Konigsblau.

Paper is Rhodia pad #18 80g/m.

Monteverde Ocean Blue.

I tried a writing sample at the Yafa booth at this year's LA Pen Show and knew I had to have a bottle. I love most of the Monteverde blues, and my previous favorite was Monteverde Sapphire. But now, I don't know - this ink is so good. I love them both.

Ocean Noir is a deep midnight blue that I think could also classify as a blue-black. It has a burgundy colored sheen on Clairefontaine paper as shown here. Dry time is on the good side of inks I have tested with Clairefontaine.

Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black. I got the remnants of a bottle in a trade with another FPN member (I really was after the Montblanc bottle holding the ink).

Some people like this ink. It is a very dry writer and is supposedly good with dip pens. (I have tried it with dip pens but don't have enough experience to have a real opinion).

I am enjoying the sample you sent me. Do you have it side by side with MV Sapphire?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I think it reminds me of Diamine Oxford Blue.

Monteverde Ocean Noir, side-by-side with Monteverde Sapphire. Tomoe River paper.

The two inks are close - even to the eye with natural light - but Sapphire is a touch lighter and a touch more purple. Ocean Blue is more of a true blue and has a dark undertone, especially when it shades. I love them both - the vibrancy of purple in the Sapphire, and that deep dark shading in Ocean Noir.

Ah darn... which ever shall I choose. They are similar enough that I only need one.

Heresy. Especially from you...

Anyway, this is a blend of 1 slurp of R.Oster School Blue + 1 slurp of Bondi Blue, in a Jinhao 159. Recalibrate your eyeballs to make it look a bit bluer.

A typography exercise with this lovely broad nib.

Pen used: Faber-Castell Loom <B>. Juicy!

Ink used: Diamine Steel Blue. Such an indescribable color.

Paper used: Clairefontaine 90g/m.

Your current icon is awesome. Love this Thor ghost though I'll miss Judge Inky.

Question for the blue-ink lovers! I would like to find an FP ink that is "periwinkle" color.

And yes, I know that J. Herbin considers their Bleu Pervenche a periwinkle, but I'm looking for a different color than they define it. Colors and names are often fairly personal (and cultural!), right?

Here is a gradient that sums up my image of periwinkle [ from rgba (98,125,203,255)), to rgba (62,78,174,255)));:

Does such a color exist in our inky world? ;)

The closest I've got (but I don't have much) is good old Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue with a wet nib.

Also, Sailor Jentle Fuji-Musume?

Iroshizuku Ajisai?

I will second Ajisai, the lighting shows it a tad bit lighter than it is (and this is in an EF Visconti nib)
