Noodler's Baystate Blue. I get the vividness in this ink, I guess I expected more out of it from the hype it gets. It does have some purple to it.

Noodler's Standard Blue. This is a very nice pure, middle-of-the-road blue. BUT, I think Diamine Blue Velvet has more personality.

Noodler's Liberty Elysium. Another ink I had high hopes for, but wasn't so wowed by it in person. It seems all the Noodler's bulletproof inks have this weird surface tension. It coated the sides of the sample vial, it coated the nib, and it lays down a very thick line on the page.

It is, however, a deep blue that looks like the International Klein Blue people are chasing after in other forum threads.

Noodler's Ottoman Azure - this was a very kind sample gift I received from a member here on FPN. I like this ink - compared to the other inks I have on hand, it looks like it has a slight green tinge. It's a lighter blue but stays firmly in the "blue" camp and doesn't move over into turquoise.

Parker Penman Sapphire - I opened up my decade-and-a-half old bottle of Penman Sapphire, to find out that it looks like it has evaporated somewhat. The first sample almost makes the ink look like a blue-black, it's so intense. For the second sample card, I very quickly dipped the nib of the pen into water. The second sample looks more like I remember PPS being, but probably a bit lighter than it should be. I will need to research how much I need to dilute my remaining supply in order to get the "true" PPS look.

Well, Errant, be sure to send those to us as CRVs. We'd love to do some more PPS comparisons.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Yes, you definitely need to dilute your ink. Just add distilled water until you get the colour you want. Start with a small sample of, say 5 mls, and add water 1/2 ml at a time, until you get it looking like what you want.

You get the added benefit of ending up with more ink than you started with...

I will ink up one of my pens with PPS (with a little dilution first) and do a set of CRVs.

Noodler's Midway Blue. I purchased this as a sample. I love this blue, but I already have so many turquoises. What to do.

ES

Your LE does not look like mine.

I think the paper is making a significant difference to how your looks vs. mine. I am using Brazil notebook paper not Rhodia.

sigh, I guess I have to pull out some GOOD paper to see how my LE looks.

Yes, I am using Rhodia for nearly all of the samples I'm posting here, with the occasional detour to 20lb copy paper every now and then. But the LE sample was on Rhodia paper. Looking at it on the monitor, it's fairly faithful to the live sample.

I'm also using a M nib pen, and most of these samples (including the LE sample) are dips, which can put down more ink than in some other situations.

I called it Indigo Sea. Sargasso Sea is a great mixing ink.

[added to shopping list]

Indeed! Thanks to Amber's constant —ahem— encouragement— I got myself a bottle of Sargasso Sea, and I just love it all by itself! I'll have to work on new mixes!!
