Papier Plume - Burgundy Ink Review

First review. This is of Papier Plume's hand-bottled ink, Burgundy, which can be found at papierplume.com or in their shop in New Orleans.

It's a nice ink that performs well in italic or flex nibs. My review was color-corrected to represent an accurate scan of the ink. Feathering of the ink is actually zero to very minimal, but my image resolution makes it look a little higher, unfortunately.

Now you've got me interested. I haven't heard about these inks before. I've checked their site and Moss Green looks interesting.

I'm in complete agreement! Moss Green is probably the only other one I would order. When I was in-store I tried the violet, which was also nice. But I have an attachment to mossy/olive greens.

I have this ink as well as their Midnight Blue--both are reliable and well-behaved. On their website, they describe their brand this way:

<<Hand poured and bottled right in our shop, these beautiful water based French inks are smooth flowing and fast drying make them ideal for any refillable fountain pen or glass dipping pen.>>

I wonder it it could be relabeled J. Herbin?

Regardless, it's a great little shop in an amazing city.

Papier Plume insists their ink is not relabeled J. Herbin. I cannot attest one way or the other, but I've used several of their inks and they behave very well. A great store with very helpful staff.

Thanks for the review! I love the burgundy color and Papier Plume's pricing is great. I will keep them in mind for my next ink purchase.
