The shading is simply gorgeous. :puddle: :puddle:
But we don't have Diamine retail in HK and I don't want to pay all the shipping fee when buying thing online :crybaby:

So the final ink I picked up from the new range was the 1864 Blue-Black, and I just got round to inking it up today. Here's some writing samples, showing comparisons to a fairly 'black' black - Waterman intense black - and Diamine Regency Blue.

- the pen is a Pelikan M1005 medium, on lined Rhodia -

These crops show rather nice sheen and shading; even on the medium nib! This ink flows well, with a slightly longer drying time than the Regency Blue, although nothing unmanageable. Unfortunately the water resistance is minimal :(

Cheers, Schticy

Ugh, shticy, your photos make it look so delicious I'm going to be eating my computer monitor if I don't close the window soon.

More swooning . . .
(My photo does little to show the subtle loveliness and immense pleasure derived from the use of this ink)

Ooo, love your Terracotta images! My bottle is on the way, and this makes me look forward to it even more. I also picked up the Safari and Blue Velvet.

Did you buy it from a US retailer or importing it from Europe?

Thanks for this.

I was getting ready to ask for a comparison between the two :) .

Would you say one had more "life" in it - is that similar to saturated?

I'm referring to the Ancient Copper.

Thanks again,

Diderot

Ooo, "life" ? Hmm. Punch yes, vibrancy yes. Saturation, defo.

Perhaps one could achieve "Terracotta" by diluting "Ancient Copper" but I'd been after Leonardo Red Chalk for such a long time that when I saw "Terracotta" it reminded me so much of it just had to push the button and buy some.

As for choosing, I would always have both in my drawer of shame. :)

Good to have your views.

As for diluting Ancient Copper, what about mixing the two? Now there's a project for you :) .

I had convinced myself to buy the Regency Blue, thinking, "OK, 40 ml, just one bottle, and maybe I can hide it from my who...who thinks 40 bottles of ink is excessive". Then I scrolled down to Blue Velvet...agh!!!!
