I wanted to ask if you had your Parker 51 Aspirgillum with you?

I'm likely safe, no blistering yet. I only briefly held the pen in one hand. The box was really nice and distracted me.

San Francisco International Pen Show - The next “Funnest Pen Show” is on schedule for August 23-24-25, 2024.  Watch the show website for registration details.

My PM box is usually full. Just email me: my last name at the google mail address.

I wasn’t planning to write another message, but I just had to thank you, FarmBoy, for the laugh of the day. That is FUNNY!!!!!

Is the box available by itself?

I thought the pen came with it for free.

I suppose you could use the box as gift presentation for an old Esterbrook. It even comes properly branded!

Not defending the new versions in the slightest, just a little bothered by some of the comments about NJ. For many years Esterbrooks were manufactured in Camden, NJ (a great industrial town way back when). They then moved to Cherry Hill NJ before being gobbled up external sources. Just saying.

Mea culpa, but I think making fun of the Shore as the pinnacle of poor taste (a la the Zombiebrook Deluxe pen) is being specific and does not encompass the rest of Jersey. I mean, look at how different the aforementioned Cherry Hill and Camden are, these days, at least.

That food also comes in a really nice carryout box.

So do some of the mooks who neglect to pay the vig.

@ Farmboy: Think if I'm going to buy a box that has a free pen, I'll go for Noodler's Heart of Darkness with a Charlie pen.

@ spaceink: It used to be that when you thought of the Jersey Shore the image that came to mind was Bruce Springsteen. Now it's Snooki....

@LukeGordon: As someone who grew up in the NYC area (Rockland and Westchester Counties in NYS) it's really easy to make fun of NJ, in spite of the fact that I have had, and still have, relatives that live there. As someone who drives from Western to PA to Manhattan and then New England a couple of times a year, I must say that it's hard NOT to make fun of a state that charges a toll to leave it.... OTOH, the Cape May area, and the northwest corner of the state (vicinity of the Delaware Water Gap) are really beautiful, and even the Pine Barrens has a weird sort of charm. Plus, when my husband and I make the trek (his mom lives about 30 miles west of Boston), we have a cardinal rule that we try to stick very hard to -- try to manage the trip so we fill the tank in the Garden State because it is SOOO much cheaper (for full serve!) than any of the surrounding states charge for self serve.

Also, Jersey has diners. Really really good diners. Pittsburgh is too far into the Midwest. There are a few in the area (plus some pseudo-diners masquerading as "family style restaurants"), but there's really not much in the way of comparison.

I miss diners. Jersey, Connecticut, southeastern and south central NYS, and the Phllly area. They understand diners around there....

But being sentimental about diners isn't going to make me wanna buy a new Estie. Box or no box.

Oh, and we can get a box with a Charlie pen and support FPN with Voltaire ink.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

But the new Esterbrook boxes have all these other boxes beat. If you don't believe me just ask Lisa. She was in awe before I was.

We are getting t-shirts made for the next show.

I guess if I dip a corner of the box, I can write with it maybe. I wonder if I can get Richard Binder to grind it into a stub.

"Wow, that's an interesting pen you have there."

"Thanks, it's a Zombiebrook Esterbox!"

I think they do an oversize version called the Estercrate.

Edit: Just heard on the grapevine that they are going to bring out a model like the Onoto Mammoth. Apparently it's going to be named the Estertrunk. You heard it here first! :)

Wasn't Zombiebrook Esterbox the Galactic President for a while? Or am I thinking of someone else? Either way, he's absolutely wonderful in Sherlock.

Ravensmarch Pens & Books
It's mainly pens, just now....

Oh, good heavens. He's got a blog now, too.
