Personally, I want a Lego Car - when I want to have a blue bumper - no problem!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Only until they pull all remaining stock to promote the new line...

So, what, they push a big red button and all the pens transport back to the mothership?

Not necessarily the Esterbrook mothership. As I understand it, FarmBoy pushes the big red button, all the earlier Esterbrooks transport to his basement, and the new company gets blamed for it.

Hey, I resent that. I'm a Studebaker by heritage.

And...the Avanti isn't exactly dead yet. Even if it's not the same.

Well, at least I know what my next car will be -"when I can afford it, that is".

As nice as the new one looks, I must say there is definitely something special, in my eyes, with the classic Avanti and Avanti ll.

Thank you for the update information and no offense, Mr. Studebaker.

He can't do that. His basement is full of 51s and Vacumatics.

Ah, but what makes you think you've seen *all* of his basement? Might be like the Batcave and have a whole host of secret levels below the the first pedestrian one!

If he's anything like Adam West, the Farmcave will have a clearly-labeled sign pointing directly towards them.

Anyone else see the "Deluxe" limited edition pen on their Facebook page?

No info posted except to email them, which I did. This is what I got back:

Our Esterbrook Products will be available for purchase at our online store on our website which will be live in two weeks.
They can also be purchased through select retail accounts nationwide. Our Limited Edition Deluxe Fountain Pen is now available and can be ordered directly. Attached is information forthe pen which will retail for $400.00
If you are interested , let us know and we will provide payment and shipping details.

They attached a Word file (Word? Really?) describing the pen. Here's what it says:

Esterbrook, America’s Original Pen Company returns with the release of the Esterbrook “Deluxe” Limited Edition Fountain Pen. This Iconic brand of fine writing instruments is proud to reintroduce their famous Esterbrook Deluxe model originally released in the 1950’s as a one of a kind limited edition.

Available in three stunning colors, Sapphire Blue, Emerald Green and Burgundy/Black Pearl. Each Fountain pen is hand made using a special acrylic sourced exclusively for Esterbrook. Each cap and grip section is made from Solid Sterling Silver which has been hand etched with a unique check pattern and hand polished. A sterling silver band and clip complete each pen. Available with a German Iridium silver plated nib in Medium Point and utilizes a convertor/Cartridge filing system. Each pen is numbered with only 150 pens available worldwide for each color.

The Esterbrook Deluxe is sure to be a collector’s item as the first release for the revival of this Iconic brand of fine writing Instruments.

I'll save my thoughts until I can actually see one in person...

I figured it had to be sterling. Interesting that is one of the first feet forward, but still no real information.

Yeah. Their marketing efforts seem to be lackluster at best.

$400 and it's got a silver-plated German steel nib?

In any size you want. As long as it's medium.

I thought you'd all get a kick out of this. An audio company (who really should change their name) has this on their website. The classics live on.

So, let me get this straight: not only is a $400 pen only available in a medium nib (nope, do not want), but said $400 pen is supposed to be paying homage to the classic pen which made its name on having every nib under the sun?? Is it just me, or is that the exact opposite of sensible?

This is the bit I think is especially funny.

I guess I'll just have to come to terms with the fact that the original Esterbrook ship sailed (and sunk) long ago. It's really sad that what we all love about Esterbrooks can't be cheaply/easily duplicated in modern day pens, but we have other choices for our "needs". There are pens with interchangeable nibs -- not as many as there *could* be, but there must not be a large enough demand for the product or there would be more manufacturers doing a wider variety of nibs (?). I'll just collect the original Esterbrooks (going to try to limit myself to just three!) and love them for what they are...but it's open season on the nibs, LOL!
