Esterbrook Brand Being Revived This December?

Recommended Posts

I remain in a sedated state of panic over this whole thing sitting on the edge of my keyboard waiting for the old (read original) Esterbrooks to no longer be on the internet shelves. So far it hasn't happened though my usual source hasn't found me any in about a month, though my source has mostly been in Poland for the month, so they may be drying up in anticipation of the new models.

I did see one online venue that seems to have a number of them available. I'm not sure if I should keep it to myself or not.

Well I am dying to acquire a copper SJ and then I'll be done (seriously). And I have a restored LJ to sell/trade. So if you want to tell me the source via PM, I promise to only buy one pen and not tell anyone else, LOL. Edited by sirgilbert357

A modern, lever fill, dealer only, Sheaffer Balance demonstrator (at an Atlanta pen show).

[EDIT] I would just guess that IF that pen were for sale it'd be at least $500.

Ah, because that pen made my little heart go pitty pat.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

also if you can get your hands on a C-S pen with lever fillers but... seriously 1K+ (considering the "death" of the company I think the prices will go sky's the limit) USD lever filler... is well...

yeah apparently the only modern day lever filler I know are the pens by C-S

get a pen model specify lever filler = instant modern day lever filler) price may vary but I say 1K USD

but looking at C-S

known lever filler models

Churchill

Doctor's Pen

Marlborough

CHurchill excalibur

why am I talking about C-S when its a dead company I dunno...

Front page of the website:

New Developments: I have acquired the rights to the trade name Conway Stewart brand for the USA. I intend to carry on the operation of the Conway Stewart brand beginning with 2015 production. The new Conway Stewart business plan will be a departure from the now overcrowded exaggerated-price, costly advertising, and limited edition model. There will be much more information coming in the near future about this.

For now, wishing you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2015!

Delta has the Romeo & Juliet - $695 MSRP. They have had others, although I can't think of any of them off the top of my head.

This thread reminds me how lucky we are that the original vintage esterbrooks are still so inexpensive and readily available.

These sorts of discussions happen over just about any nostalgic/historical reissue. We have them over basses - Danelectro (which are actually just as good as the originals were), Harmony (really?)., Kay....

I see them over cars - new Minis are NOT the old Minis...new Fiat is NOT the old Fiat....

So, while I remain basically neutral on the revival of the Esterbrook name, I never expected them to be the same pen, and I don't think they will take away from the vintage pens we all love. The one thing I would have liked, and this is something that I have felt Esterbrook excelled at, was to capture the period of issue with a classic look. The '30s Dollar Pens, the J pens, and even the M2 - all were really sterling examples of a period of time in appearance.

Maybe the new Esties should do something in Steampunk. ;)

Only until they pull all remaining stock to promote the new line...

Either that's a joke or I'm missing something...how could they wipe out all remaining stock? Every Estie I've ever seen has been for sale in the hands of individuals, not coming from some corporate-controlled source. These are used pens, the newly revived company has no say in what happens to the Esties floating around for sale.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm waiting for a new Studebaker - preferably and Avanti III with interchangeable wheels and plug and play engines!

Hey, I resent that. I'm a Studebaker by heritage.

And...the Avanti isn't exactly dead yet. Even if it's not the same.
