"Lucky~" to paraphrase Napoleon Dynamite. If possible, can you check the weight of the pen without cap? Nakaya should make a version from lighter metal such as aluminum. 60 gram, IIRC, is even heavier than Lamy 2000M which is made from heavier (than titanium) stainless steel. Nakaya must be cut from a solid bar of titanium.

That is one sweet pen. I was seriously considering getting one several years ago. The limited ink capacity and the price (overpriced, IMO) always held my hand. Now these are going for even more. The current market prices are definitely collector prices now.

Dialog 3 experiences can vary wildly from one person to another. Mine worked perfectly and can sit for a week unused without problems, for example, while others' can't even sit for more than 2 hours without drying out. That said, if you're a fan of a pen that's really heavily weighted towards the nib, the D3's a great writer.

They (the M90s) were less overpriced several years ago... got mine for $125 new... one of my favorites.

Yup, that's around the price I remember when I was looking at them several years ago. I thought they were overpriced then and now they go for $300?! Definitely collector price. A lot of great pens can be had at $300 price point.

Sure, whatever makes you happy. Who would have thought that it would turn out to be such an excellent investment, a ten-bagger at least. Considering that I am an user who believes a pen is tool that should be used (and not a collector/curator), spending that kind of money for what was a plebian, if not cheap, pen wouldn't make me happy.

Sure, whatever makes you happy. Who would have thought that it would turn out to be such an excellent investment, a ten-bagger at least. Considering that I am an user who believes a pen is tool that should be used (and not a collector/curator), spending that kind of money for what was a plebian, if not cheap, pen wouldn't make me happy.

OTOH, I think it is a beautiful, sleek pen, with nothing cheap about it. It's a stainless steel ink fang, and I have thought they were amazingly attractive when I first saw pictures, and when I saw one in person.

I agree 100% that it's a beautiful pen. When I say cheap, I was referring to the original price, not the material or the workmanship. It was most definitely a bargain, even a steal, at its original price but not at current market price. The current market price is borderline nuts. Just checked eBay and the last M90 was sold for over $500!!!

The Parker 45 Flighter can be had with a 14k nib, though most will also have gold furniture.

No, increase in price is a reflection of demand over time but you knew that... I get it. The pen is in high demand with limited supply resulting in high price. But the high price can drive down the demand as it did for me. I remember the supply and demand curves from Econ 101.

 

P.s. I just saw the pens listed in your signature. I gather you like ornate pens. It's a bit surprising you'd get the Nakaya. I'd have thought that it would be too plain for you. But then again, you got the M90. You, my friend, definitely have an eclectic taste.
