New Pen, This Looks Wrong?

Just got a Safari in the mail (nib is black, broad) and the feeder seems misaligned? Writes fine, just a little dry. I'm using the stock cartridge that came with the pen.

This far I have only admired Safaris from apart, but as long as it writes well it will probably be all right. I have a M800 which I always get misaligned in that way because of the way I put pressure on the pen...

The nib is removable and replaceable by just pulling it straight off the feed. As such you can straighten yours by slight pressure with your fingers, and all will be good!

Should be fine the feed has two ink channels (now I think it is to accommodate any misalignment)

You can always pop it off and put it back in.

Thanks guys. Since I'll be using a different ink when the converter gets here, I'll probably remove the nib and adjust the feed while I'm at it.

I would bet that this slight mis-alignment will have no impact on the performance of your nib. My guess is that your nib, like many other Safari nibs, came from the factory adjusted to be too dry for most users. Check the "stickies" on this site or others regarding how to adjust your nib for better ink flow, and don't worry about the little bit it is out of alignment.

Can completely agree with SteveE, this has been my experience too.

All it takes is to run a 0.002 shim through half a dozen times, and possibly a flush through with water and a drop of detergent, it should write well.

In the photo at the start of this thread, the nib is not quite 'home' on the top edge, it would be more obvious looking at the nib from the top side.

The supplied cartridge and ink is ok, but I have found Waterman's black and blue inks to flow well in these pens. Seems a well suited ink to me, over several years of use, using the Lamy black and red converter, a really worthwhile buy also.
