Scriptus Toronto - A View From The Ink Sample Table..

Cyber, it was nice to meet you at the ink table.

I have a question about mixing the BlackStone ink, because I am itching to try some in my daily pen. Should I use distilled water to mix the powder or can I use tap water?

Another question. Can I split the powder in half to make two of the "Typical fountain pen saturation"? One now and one later. I don't write as much as I should, so I don't want to make to much. I'm more concerned about storing the powder, and possible messy disasters while trying to measure the powder.

Thanks again.

Any pics / comments on the Staedtler table? I'm a big fan of their 925-25 mechanical pencils, I wonder what other nice products for the Asian market they might have....

They are meat to be use with regular (soft water). If you are not sure about the chemical composition of your water, distilled water is a good solution.

I won't recommend to split the powder. Is powder, and no matter how good you think you will store it ... it will get hard eventually. The highest concentration is 30ml, I will recommend to use all the powder with 30ml of water and store that.

You can use a few vials (those 5ml vials) to play with dilution. I adore the highest concentration, but you can easily dilute 50%, keep one vial at highest concentration, and the other fill it to 2.5ml and add 2.5 ml of water (1:1 ratio). The highest concentration gives you a dark red almost brown, the 1:1 is a deep red red... no brown.

I recommend for you to drop a line to Kevin at http://justwrite.com.au/ .. You might have to wait a little, it looks like business is booming there are a lot of things to do when you are launching new products.

Thanks for the photos at Toronto.

It has been fun being a part of it. I used room temperature distilled water. 4 inks four dilutions. - 30 ml black, 50 ml red, 60 ml green and 90 ml blue.... From wet to dry...

Love the color of the blue - almost purple.
