Hello!

 

I'm a new user.

 

I've created two videos showing the effects of ink under a microscope. The first one, "Fountain Pen Ink Flow Under a Microscope" is a video showing the ink flow of various inks from various pens under various (10-40 power) zoom. The second one, "Up Close and Personal With J. Herbin Rouge Hematite" shows the golden sheen coming out of the ink at various magnifications and it's pretty interesting to see!

 

If you're interested, check them out! Got any opinions or ideas, let me know! I'd love to do more videos on the subject.

Just beautiful. Thank you. It would be interesting to see some feathering samples, I guess...

 

I'll grab some cheap filler paper and maybe a bit of copy paper and give it a shot to see what kind of reaction I get.

Wow! I'm really impressed. Sheen is no less magic because I've seen it happen close up, but it's really well done.

 

I was not expecting to enjoy watching video of ink drying nearly so much. The hobby really has got me, hasn't it? :)

I hope you will continue with these very interesting videos. The Rouge Hematite was spectacular.

 

Projects like this are an excellent way of studying the pen/ink/paper interactions that we spend so much time talking about.

My favorite is the last 30 seconds or so of the Rouge Hematite video (Wahl-Eversharp >40x Zoom). Play it at YouTube's 2x speed and it is almost like it is alive.

Spectacular! Try Stormy Grey too! It's a different kind of sheen!

Was just about to suggest that myself! I love watching that dry on paper like Rhodia, because you get to watch the deposit of the gold dust (dunno if it's really gold, of course) sort of materialize as the wetness of the ink part evaporate.
