I only have one. Not sure why though as it's a stunning writer. It's white with a black EF nib. Fab for sketching and it always has Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite in it.

(If anyone knows where I can get a black clip for it, it'd really help with my OCD :) )

To find the black clips as spare parts is a process of trial and error, some distributors could ask for them directly to Lamy but the majority sells the entire cap... Ask directly to the distributor of Lamy in England first, if you get a negative answer try buying a replacement cap or a used pen that is being sold as spare parts.

A fellow FPN Canadian user bought several of them from Lamy´s distributor in Canada... Maybe he´s willing to share his findings! You can find him in the several 'how to fix / change Safari cap...' threads.

Thank you. It has certainly been a trial, which has only led to error so far. I keep looking for a spare cap / cheap pen on ebay but no joys. Not thought of contacting a distributor. Good idea.

I wouldn't want to ask fellow FPNers for somthing so trivial - although I think it was one of those threads that planted that seed in my mind :)

A little of water for those thoughts...

I love the Safari with black garments, specially the Alpine White Safari of the 90's, the textured one, but I'm not paying anytime soon Lamy 2000 money for a Safari, which is the price they're selling for... so I switch clips and nibs between a charcoal and white Safaris, the frankenpen was adopted by my wife.

Any approaching event worthy of a gift for family or friends could result in a lucky owner of a frankenpen...

For the Safari I would say White. Super clean and elegant. As for the Al-Star I would have to go with the new Copperorange! Just a really nice color.

I love the burnt orange and matt black.

For the Safari, it's gotta be the Charcoal. I feel the textured material is far more comfortable. The gives it a softer feel to the ultra smoothness of the other Safaris which feel cold and hard to me.

For the Al-Star, I can't choose between the Ocean Blue and the Copper Orange; they are tied for my favorite color.

Lamy 2k Makrolon Fine, Lamy Dialog 3 Matte black Fine (the pen insists upon Diamine Oxblood  ), Waterman No. 7 Red Ripple Red Nib, Waterman No. 7 Jet Celluloid Brown Nib, Pilot Metropolitan Fine, Lamy Safari/Vista/Al-Star every nib size, Omas Ogiva Cocktail Blue Angel EF Flex nib. Coveting: Waterman No. 7 Black Nib :puddle: .

Considering you're in Europe, you can contact Lamy DE directly, maybe they'll be able to sell you those.

For some reason, I don't like blue that much in a Safari, but it looks quite great on the Al-Star.

From the regular current series I really like the Safari matt black/charcoal/anthracite or whatever else it's called. I've got two of them (my wife actually kidnapped my first one). From special editions I like (but don't have any of) the Safaris with the accented clips -- black with red or yellow clip, that sort of thing. I used to have a cornflower blue Safari with red clip but it got lost along with a Vista and a Parker 45 in a household move :(. I remember the stationary shop I bought it from had it on discount. Look how much these go for now *sigh*

Gosh... I bought a Lamy Safari because I wanted a cheap beginner pen (one easy on the wallet), but now I'm starting to want to collect all the colours! My poor wallet...
