GREAT comparison. Thank you.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Hello again folks, managed to get this one done this side of the rear end of November, so yay me :)

Once again it's an image heavy post but in my opinion the more detailed the pictures the better. Now I don't have a scanner, but I do have a reasonable camera, I rigged up both flashheads this month so the lighting should be a bit more even. My handwriting hasn't improved much though, but practice practice practice. Thumbnail images are now 1024 along the long edge as promised, all images are links to full resolution images so click away.

A couple of important notes regarding the below.
1) Don't trust that water resistance test with the Curzon Summit. The ink had been sitting in the pen for week and I believe that at some point in it's previous owners life it's been used with an iron gall ink as the entire fill had darkened significantly.
2) My comments regarding the Pelikan M320 may seem contradictory. Initially I felt that it wasn't the best fit due to the wetness, later on I wrote with a lighter hand and it was far better, hence the comment that on that I'd use the combo again.

So... Iroshizuku Yu-yake. What a fantastic orange ink eh! It most definitely deserves it's translated name of Sunset. The shading on this ink is amazing. The closest other orange with depth and shading would be Noodler's Apache Sunset, I do have a bottle and I love both. Did I have any issues this month? Yes, bleedthrough on the very wet nibs again, but once again these are firehose wet nibs. The artpad couldn't cope with the Curzon Summit and the Rhodia/Clarefontaine struggled with the silly-wet Pelikan M320. Overall though it is a very well behaved ink that I'll keep on using.

Last month I quoted some lyrics from Mike Oldfields 'Moonlight Shadow' on the sample pages. I'm going to continue with the music theme each month and I've also decided to write out the song lyrics in full with my preferred combo of the month. This is for both writing practice and for the fun of sharing the music. I'll revisit Tsuki-Yo at somepoint to give it the same treatment - hopefully my handwriting will improve!

This months ink name music related song: Sunset on the Golden Age by Alestorm

Pens Used
Curzon Summit S100 - 14k Flexy
Lamay Safari - Steel Medium
Pelikan M320 - 14k Medium (Springy)
Edison Collier - Steel 1.1mm Stub
TWSBI 540 - 1.5mm Italic Stub

Paper Used
Rhodia Dotpad - 80gsm
Rhodia No 12 Grid - 80gsm
Rhodia R - 90gsm
Clairefontaine Clothbound A5 Grid - 90gsm
Opus Essential Paperback Sketchbook - 128gsm

Onto the writing samples and photos:

Written Summary of the first photo

Colour: Light to dark orange depending on pen used
Shading: High
Flow: Very generous!
Saturation: Medium
Cleaning/Staining: Easy/None seen
Feathering/Bleedthough: Only seen on the Rhodia "R" paper with super wet nibs. That would be the Curzon Summit + Pelikan M320
Drying time: 15 seconds
Waterproofness: [see test sheets] (ergo none)
Most preferred test combo: Edison Collier 1.1mm stub
Least preferred test combo: Pelikan M320 (I would note that I'd change my mind to the Lamy Safari)
Personal Opinion: One of my favourite oranges along with Noodler's Apache Sunset & Cayenne. Fantastic shading & only downsides is a little too wet for some pens.

Let me start by saying - WOW! Great photos. I can see you like orange. The ink looks great in the TWSBI and this photo needs to be whipped out whenever someone asks..."What color should I put in my demonstrator?" - Thank you!

Not wanting to sideline too much but what are your thoughts on the Iroshizuku inks in Omas pens in regards to the high pH of the inks and the cotton resin material of the Omas pens? I've read that the cotton resin is formed in a similar way to celluloid and that high pH inks are not a great idea to use in them.
