Manu Propria Kiseru Fountain Pen

This is not exactly a Japanese pen but it comes close to it. Take a look at these pens, they are really amazing. I had the opportunity to visit Martin at his atelier in Zwitserland and see for myself where he creates his exquiste writing gear. I would appreciate your comments.

It's in the same ballpark as some of the Nakaya pens.

I wonder who makes the nibs? And does the artist tune the nibs for you?

The artist changed recently from Bock nibs onto JoWo nibs from Berlin. The artist talked about tuning them but i do not know wether he already does. If not they def can be send to a nibmeister.

Is it? This is just an urushi coated pen, it's not even a Maki-e or Raden. With a very beautiful design, that's for sure, a magnificent pen with a large cap, yes, but just an Urushi lacquered pen in the standard size with a nr. 6 nib. I don't want to know the price of the long version...

For +2K Euro, I find it certainly overpriced.

Nakaya / Danitrio / Hakase / Namiki pens with that price tag usually offer something more than just Urushi.

At a price tag like a Danitrio Genkai it would be very interesting, but this one almost double that. You're paying the design, I presume.

Just my opinion, eh, nothing more than that :-)

I appreciate your opinion !

This pen is called the Kiseru and inspired on the Kiseru-zutsu, a kind of box to cover the Japanese Kiseru pipe. I do not think it is overrated as both parts of the pen almost equal 2 pens. Depending on the size the Bô and Classic type pens are in the same price range of Danitrio, Namiki, Nakaya, … It is not "just" an urushi coated pen. Urushi looks simple but it is far from easy :)

Yes, I agree with you that Bo and Classic are more or less in the correct price range, those are OK.

But for that price I would rather contact you concerning a Danitrio Sho-Genkai one of these days :-)

Once again, just my five cents: I am sure that others will Think otherwise, I respect that.

Your gallery is beautiful, by the way: I didn't know your store.

Regards!
