Demonstrator Festival 2014

Having finally 'completed' my collection at present (until more are released!) I thought I'd take a moment to share my collection of clear demonstrators, along with a solution for pen storage I haven't seen before that I think works well.

 

The curation rules for my collection are:

- Must be colorless transparent, including a major part of the cap

- Must be monochrome (rhodium, sterling, stainless, aluminum, etc. furniture OK, gold etc. not)

- Must not be a collaboration with a non-pen company (e.g. Porsche, Momo, Lamborghini)

- Must have been available at retail

- No frankenpens/customs (e.g. Edison customs to which there would be no end)

The storage is via a combination of the 5-drawer Muji acrylic box (absolutely the perfect size, and appropriate for clear demonstrators in particular) and Gary Lehrer's pen trays, cut to size.

Truly an amazing and beautiful collection. I have a number of demonstrators and love them but it pales to yours. I read your requirements a few times and think this one may qualify. I've got this one and find it fun when people ask about how a fountain pen works.

Late to the party, but... wow, eye candy! I love a demonstrator (I never got over that "clear" thing from the 80s, ok???), and I would have the same criteria-- as clear as possible, and preferably silver-colored fittings. (I also add the caveat of "must be self-filling;" to me looking at a c/c is not that exciting.)

 

And, of course, the Muji cabinet is just the perfect matching choice for display.

I'm surprised that this thread is still getting bumped years later. I'm waiting on a shipment from Taobao of the very last demonstrators I know to exist (that are available to purchase) in the current market, and then I'll plan to update. Cheers, all!

Omg this is such an inspiration (also motivation) for me. I'm currently obsessed with demonstrators, especially the ones with clear feeds. You have an amazing collection and I'm looking forward to you updating it, hopefully with few additions
