I see (better) now that it oxidises into a greyish blue-black.

I couldn't agree more. Its colour and make up are no biggie but its subtlety and joy of use is up there with the best of them.

Mine is married to my Pilot Custom 91 F nib.

I loved this when I tried my sample, but have balked so far at paying for a bottle. It doesn't scream "I am unique and worth $30+!" but still, it's quite nice.

24-hour old sample. ESSRI retains more blue than Diamine Registrars ink in the same time-span, IMO. Wonderful ink! DR as well.

 

My blue-black phase has been wonderful so far. Long may it endure.

I just happened upon a nice vintage Mabie-Todd Swan, and I went with de Atramentis Lilac --it may move to Diamine Pansy for the killer sheen...
