I wonder has anybody did testing with the IG inks if they act like Diamine IG ink? I mean like if there is 1 molecule of different ink in the pen the Diamine IG will solidify? And my Diamine IG ink pen has all the metal parts corroded.

 

Currently Diamine IG is on the highest for maintenance and RK Salix is on the lowest end near regular dye inks. Where does KWZI IG inks fall under?

 

My Iron-gall inks have three similar things with both old and most of modern IG inks : iron ions, gallic acid and tannic acid, but on second thought most modern IG inks don't use even tannic acid anymore

I don't want to say that I re-worked the idea of IG inks, but I came to it with different conception of how they should look like, and I simply did it.

My IG inks do not contain strong acids, so they are more mild than most registar inks and home brewed inks, because some pen-manufactures saves on good quality inox steel there is an iron corrosion inhibition agent in ink. So even if the chromium oxide layer on surface stainless steel is damaged the ink will passivate the surface again to prevent pitting corrosion.

Inks that contain high content of metal ions will always be more susceptible to causing corrosion of even stainless steel, so I had taken some steps in order to prevent that.

 

Sedimentation in pen is something that might occur if the pen is left without use for long period of time, but truly saying I only observed this in IG Violet #3 only once and I have inked something like 30-40 different pens so this is natural that some of them are used very rarely (some once in a month... if they get lucky )

 

In order to have a good experience from using my IG inks use pens with good seal in cap and do not leave the for too long unused - how long this depends on pen. If pen has tendency to drying out or hard start on any ink, than it is probably bad candidate to us with IG inks.

I have IG Violet #3 in a pen right now. Gorgeous color. (thanks for the heads up, Konrad -- I suspect I will use it long before I get sedimentation, but will be watching for it). I think that the #54 IG Blue-black is the next to put in something....

Of course now there's a guy in my local pen club talking about doing a group order. So I spent half the afternoon yesterday going "Hmmm -- what *else* do I want...?"

Sigh. Do I really need more ink? No. And yes....

Kidding... your ink is on Package 2 which I am SOOOO HAPPY to announce it finally was let out from Customs!!!.. (It looks like we hit the Christmas season rush).. we should get it Monday/Tuesday.

 

 

Everyone who has not received an ink/shipping invoice... should keep an eye on their email this week. You should receive two invoices, one for ink and one for shipping... please pay both so we can ship them asap.

 

I would like to apologize for the delay, we have very little control over customs (either on Poland or the US).. but we are finally out and our shipping Master will do his best to get them to you asap.

Ooh, haven't tried those two yet. Wait -- are those the regular ones or the iron gall Turquoise and Red? Because I got the IG versions....

So far I've only tried #54 IG Blue Black and #30 IG Violet #3 and I love them both!

A tiny bit of ink leaked out of the Hunter Green but the Old Gold bottle was just fine and I'm looking forward to inking up my newest pen - a Levenger True Writer Obsidian - with the Old Gold.
