Well that convertible is darn cute. I am glad she was not with you and I am glad you are okay.

@amberleadavis - fortunately, no. On the down side - my car is almost certainly totalled (insurance hasn't responded yet), and I have to go hunting for a replacement car. On the up side, my daughter wasn't in there, everybody walked away, and I get to replace a car I wasn't that fond of int he first place... :-D

The young 'un is particularly smitten with a PT Cruiser convertible...

I don't know what the convertibles are like, but I rented a regular one a few years ago on a trip down to Mississippi. At least, that's what the Thrifty office at the Gulfport airport gave me.

It was butt-ugly, an amazingly uncomfortable ride (and this was *before* the back surgery, mind), and had absolutely NO pickup -- not a good thing when the interstates have short entrance ramps and 70 MPH speed limits (which means the flow of traffic is more like 85 MPH...). Plus, while driving a friend to Hattiesburg to a car rental place (she was flying out of Jackson the next day) the back window opened for no reason at all. We had to pull over to the side of I-59, and turn the engine off to reboot the computer for the power window switch to work (and then of course, had no pickup to get back into the flow of traffic...).

All I can say on behalf of PT Cruisers (unless they have done *considerable* upgrades in the past decade) is that they hold an amazing amount of stuff. I was having to drive to Hattiesburg to pick up boxes of frozen ready-to-bake stuff and I had boxes on the seats, floor, even the back ledge. The guys at the Sam's Club who were helping me load kept telling me it wouldn't all fit. I told them it was going to HAVE to (and all in that trip) -- I was *not* making another roundtrip between Lumberton and Hattiesburg to get the rest of the boxes....

Oh, yeah, and Thrifty gave me a purple one.... B)

OTOH, they were kinda expecting me to get an oil change at 21,500 miles (they said I'd get reimbursed, for it). But I was thinking "oh no *Hell* no -- not when I have to get the car back down to the airport and get it gassed up after an hour + drive in a city I don't know, and still have time to check the car back in AND get into the airport for the 2 hours of pre-boarding time now required in the post 9-11 world...." Thrifty got it back with 21,200 miles on the odometer.... :P

I know a guy who got one of the first PT Cruisers on the market, when he had what was described to me (third hand) as "a midlife crisis". Most people I knew who knew Eric tended to want to laugh and point....

Got my inks today, after a really roundabout trip: from Poland to the central address in the USA, then to my remailer, and then to Curaçao... and it arrived completely intact and not even too crazily packed. Very compact and tight. I like the first layer of thin, black plastic foil that really seals the bottle. Thanks everyone! Now which pen and which ink will I try first... it should not be too difficult this time, only three bottles... IG blue 2, IG blue black, and Rotten Green... so need three pens...

How long did you have the car to put on that many miles?

Thanks Claudia, that makes me extra happy! it was due to a number of reviews, with samples, that I made those choices. Made my first choice, one of the Ghuangzhou tower pens, with the IG Blue black.

I got a bottle of KWZI #47 (Violet #9). I honestly don't remember ordering it, but I paid for it and here it is. Probably not a color I would have selected, but I'm sure it will be beautiful. I hope Konrad can find a way to make the inks more widely available, especially the blues. Hope I get another chance to order someday. Thanks for all the effort everyone put into this.

Opinions vary on the ugly factor. Personally, I think PT Cruisers look like the (bleep) offspring of a VW Newbeetle that has been bred with an old Woody... They amuse me... Sure they amuse others, too, but, I would have to care about what others think about what I choose to drive for the laughter to bother me... ;-) Pretty safe to say that I am out of the general mainstream. Of the dozen or so vehicles I checked out, that was the one that best suited me, where I am in my life at this point (The Mini Cooper was fun, but, driving my daughter around in a vehicle with no spare tire seems a poor choice, the HHR was just a bad fit for me, the Versa and the Sentra needed a shoehorn to squeeze me into, the Caliber was not bad, but had a deposit on it, etc). The fact that my daughter really got excited about it was gravy. Can't wait to hear from insurance that my car is totalled and the loan is paid off, so I can move ahead on getting the new rig...

Be forewarned... I will eye-bang the bejeezus out of your pens...

I didn't know because it looked like blood some smudges were scarier than others.

Once I unpacked every bottle - I had 3 bottles with ink loss. The worst offender lost less than 10 percent. The amazing thing is of course, how much mess a tiny amount of ink can make!

All three had issues. Even after washing the bottles and the lids, they won't seal properly. I'm thinking the trip over the Rockies did something to the lids. Because of Konrad's TERRIFIC policy of wrapping them in Saran-Wrap, the bottles stayed with the lids and leakage was minimal.

I may end up decanting the inks into other bottles if I can't get the caps to seal back correctly. I will keep you all informed and I'll try and take pictures.

That red seems to look very purple... If nobody else wants it, I will check with one of my co-workers. If he wants it, tomorrow, I will front the money for the bottle, and hand it off to him.

If he doesn't want it, I'll pimp it out to my barber (the one who snagged my purple metropolitan - in trade for a haircut - and was really digging the IG black cherry that was in it).

I honestly think my swabs is not doing it justice. It goes down bright red... like Red Dragon.. and soon oxidizes to burgundy... real nice.

Got all 12 of mine, and finally had the time today to look at them closely. First reaction I had to the black shrinkwrap was NINJA's !!!!!!!!!!! :ninja: :ninja: :ninja:

All bottles arrived fully intact, and no leaks. These are some awesome and beautiful inks. Have to play with them more to see all the sweet nuances, but wanted to take a moment and say thanks for all the work that went into developing and distributing them.

Is there a complete list of all of them because I get confused by the ink # and the names, and just want to sort out all of them. Thanks!

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.
