Pen, Journal, And Box Project

They're called presto logs. Mill waste, sawdust, woodchips and wood residue are compressed under very high pressure with a little parafin to form into 'logs' for wood heat. It is about 30 degrees out in my shop right now, no insulation and concrete floors.

I installed this old wood parlor stove last winter and burn fire wood, presto logs, and wood scrap to heat the shop.

Finishing up unfinished business:

Look back through this thread and you can see that I have been at this for awhile.

TM Lee Created a beautiful journal to accompany this project, thank you so much my friend. Shawn Newton created a pen set (roller ball, FP, and mechanical pencil) which also fits the theme perfectly (the material for the cap and binde is called cracked ice - thank you also Shawn. And I created a desk top box for my son to store his papers, and treasures, or if he is like me, from buttons off wool shirts, old basball game tickets, to the odd memento, too valuable to toss, and too worthless to display.

Tomorrow we will have a family gathering to celebrate his great triumph and I will present him with this box.

What luck for me to have stumbled into this thread while sipping my morning coffee. The creativity and artistry that melded to produce this incredible gift is impressive. I can't help but say I'll be thinking of your family tomorrow when this gift is presented.

I'm looking closely. Flawless for its purpose!

Great effort and a lovely gift.

The love, effort and thought put into it's construction will overshadow any oversight.

I am sure it will be cared and cherished for a long time.
