Leather Cover For No12 Rhodia

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a commercially available leather pad cover that will fit a Rhodia no 12 dot pad?

I just moved up to the Sacramento area, and I am super happy to have Rhodia available to me now. I use my small no12 everyday, as well as larger notebooks, and it would be perfect if I could only find a leather cover!

Thanks in advance guys!

Gfeller. may also make you one on a special order from real leather. They make a #11 and #13 Routinely, but no mention of #12. I would bet if you asked they would do one for you. Once again usual disclaimers apply, No affiliation, just a satisfied customer. Here's the Link to page with Rhodia Stock items on it: http://www.gfeller.us/noncart.html

the G feller ones seem a bit pricey. The Rhodia ones aren't bad, I just need to find a retailer. Too bad Goulet doesn't carry them.

You can Contact Rhodia in NYC by using their Contact Us E mail : http://rhodiapads.com/contact.php Fill out the form and ask who you can order the cover from, maybe even buy it locally in SF area. They are always quick to answer my off the wall questions and assist me. They have great customer service. I'd love to order a Red Leather one, ink -syringe can you ,please, supply a link or source.

Gfeller is a bit pricey but we're talking heirloom quality here. Your great Grand Kids will fight over who gets this heirloom. I'd also suggest you go to etsy. com and search Leather Notebook covers. They'll mostly be for a field Notes sized insert. Once you find a style you like, contact the Craftsperson and see if they'll do a special order for you. My experience is, great prices, great service and outstanding quality. I've send the Pad, notebook I need the cover for to the artisan to make sure I get a custom bespoke item. The choice of last resort is I ask the wife to pull out some of the thin Italian Leather hides I've bought on etsy and make me one. She is a quite talented seamstress . These come out great for the mere cost of a night on the town. The thin Italian leather is easy to sew on a conventional sewing machine. Let us know what works out for you. Jim

I think I am going over to San Francisco for the day, and will of course be stopping at Flax art. I wonder if they carry the Rhodia covers. I want to take a look at those red leather ones.

I have done a small bit of leather work in the past, but left all of my tools and supplies back home, otherwise I'm sure one wouldn't be too hard to make.

I do firmly believe in spending money on quality, it pays off and its definitely worth it, but right now I just don't see the necessity in an heirloom quality cover. Maybe when I graduate =).

And Jim, that is awesome, id love to see some pictures of your (wife's) homemade gear. Im a DIY kind of guy!

thanks for the help guys

I don't see a catalog number or anything on this. I have long since tossed the plastic covering. Perhaps you can ask Rhodia? I know this was sitting on the shelf a little while before I bought it and it was the last one. I got it cheap because it was the last one but it was more expensive originally than the black or brown as this is supposed to be real leather and the black and brown are pleather? I just liked it because it was red and black.

There are many leatherworkers out there who could easily make you a cover of your own design, with your choice of colour.

Personally I would have thought Kip leather may be a little soft for such a cover but it would be very tactile.

Good luck in your search.

I emailed Goulet Pens to see if the Rhodia pleather ones can be special ordered. They told me unfortunately they cannot but they provided me with this link http://www.vickerey.com/prh815.html

I love goulet

Anyway, I didn't bring home a rhodia pad from my SF trip, but...I was talked into a brand new Lamy 2000

I overpaid for it and probably shouldn't have spent the money on it but man is it a nice pen. My first pen over 40 dollars by the way.

The cheap pleather ones are looking even better now that I dumped all that cash lol

Hey! I was looking for one of these too, as the No. 12 is my favorite size. I found two (haven't bought either yet):

The Chunk by Haven Leather

Kingsley Leather

I need a pen loop, so that's a +1 for the Chunk. However, I'm not so fond of the snap on that one, as it's just one more thing for me to do as I'm frantically trying to remember what I want to write down! I'm sure Kingsley could add a loop, or Haven Leather could remove the snap.

I've also found a non-cover solution for bringing a pen. It is here: http://www.pen-info.jp/eng_rodhia_holder.html

Some notes: Use packing tape to cover the paper on both sides before you punch through. The tape toughens up the paper so you don't rip it with the pen clip. Also, check out that person's whole site; they have some really nice ideas!

I'd ordered one from Haven and got a quick refund with the note of closing down. Kingsley made one for me in 48H and shipped it out., Here , New Mexico, in 7 days or so. Fantastic work, great service and beautiful materials. Go to etsy address and drop him a line, I bet he could do a pen loop for you at minimal cost. I'm very pleased with what I got. Usual disclaimers apply, no relationship or financial interest, just a super [leased client of Kingsley. Jim
