Poussiere De Lune - J. Herbin

Poussiere de Lune was one of J. Herbin inks that were reformulated so time ago. As a result the ink doesn't fully remind me the sample I've once tried liked a lot. But still - the color is really, really nice.

Let's start from the bottle. Nice but not practical.

Personally, I believe this ink has one of the best names out there - translated (for my less cosmopolitan friends) to Moon Dust...

Great review - thank you.

I love the splashes!

What a beautiful ink! Thank you for the lovely review!

May I ask where you purchased this bottle from?

Does everyone have this version now, or if I order might I get an old bottle by mistake?

I prefer this version over the old one by far. :)

Thank you again for sharing!

Thank you for sharing the wonderful photos! I bought cartridges of this for my Kaweco Classic Sport (Fine nib). The pen is the Bordeaux color - nice combination!

It's a gorgeous color. I find a page of it to be quite easy to read, unlike many violets. When the cartridges are used up I will be buying a bottle to refill them.

I really enjoyed your review!

Thank you for the info! :)

I contacted Goulet Pens to see if they have the new color and Jeremy from customer care said they do have the new color in their warehouse. They were unaware of the change in this ink but are now investigating it. Love Team Goulet!!

Thank you for this review and showing us so well what the new color looks like! It is a big help! :)

Both J. Herbin reviews were spectacular, different and refreshing. Makes me appreciate my Herbin inks all the more. I must re-introduce myself to some of them... Thanks so much for your work, LeRoy

Thanks for another great review Visvamitra!

I really like this purple. I've never gotten to use the old formulation, but I liked it enough to buy a bottle. My first bottle of J. Herbin, in fact.

So many inks, so little time...

Hello Visamitra I have that ink too. I love it.

Though A144 wrote that they now have a new formula.

It seems that the colour has changed a bit. I have seen reviews of Poussiere de Lune before and just like in your review the ink is much more purpelish

I am havin the original of the photo above next to me here...

also in live view it is more greyish.... sort of Like grey with a little Amethyst hue.

In the written text it even appers more greyish....

do you have an older bottle.... Has the colour changed wiht the recipe?

regards

Peter

P.s. can you tell me what that thing is you do with photoshop.... I have photoshop and like to learn about that :D

@Peter - I've tried old Poussiere de Lune sopme time ago and I was hooked. However I prefer new version :)

I use Photoshop to correct curves (histogram) and to create color range. In order to that I choose gradient tool, choose option create new gradient and define colors by clicking on the text (almost every ink shades and makes some letters brighter some darker).

  • 2 weeks later...

Poussière de Lune is my daily ink! I use it for official documents. It's discrete and particular at the same time.

I love this color, but it's always a bit too purple for me to use at the office. I recently bought some J. Herbin Perle Noir (Black) and mixed the two at a ratio of 3 parts Purple to one part Black... it's beautiful. Almost black when it goes down but then dries to an excellent purple/black that can be used in any environment.

Chiming in, I'd also like to know. Mine seems more greyed. I do love it however. It's a way to use purple and not be screaming off the page. It's one of my most-used inks (when I get tired of being boringly predictable with Kon-Peki.)
