What Are You Writing Today?

Hello all!

So what have you written today?

For me, I've been writing letters to thank the people around me, it's what I do at the end of the year (yes I know it isn't even October yet but year ends are always busy plus I had some time today so...). But I didn't find my first draft good enough so it's back to the writing board for me!

Write on, now until forever. :D

A sincere man am I
From the land where palm trees grow,
And I want before I die
My soul's verses to bestow.

All those moments will be lost in time.
Like tears in rain.
Time to die.

Elegant handwriting you have....

I am writing to a friend now abourlt two great Austrian Writers...

Stedan Zweig and Joseph Roth...

Zweig us an intelkect with great knowledge of late 19th and early 20 th century Europe...

I also send some ink samples to fellow FPN-members today

Das leben ist wie ein Perpetuum Mobile mit ein Mangel..... Immer im Bewegung jedoch nicht unendlich. (life is like a troubled Perpetuum Mobile ever moving but not for ever)

Tricked throughout the centuries...

For centuries people had been tricked by kings & "religion-alism"

In the 20th century people got tricked by communism

Today people get tricked by (neo)capitalism :)

Why, thank you! Your writing sound like fun, especially when it has got to do with writing also (no prizes for guessing my hobby!) :D

And thank you for your generousity.

What do I like to read? Mitch Albom, Malcolm Gladwell, Tim Harford, Steven Landsburg, Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner. Books on life, psychology and economics in real life appeal to me!

Nah it's okay I appreciate your offer of ink, but I can't finish the amount of inks I have already... so no more inks in a while! XD

He based his novels from characters he met, and friends he knew well. Also traveled and lived in the locations he set his novels in. Two worth reading are: "Of Human Bondage", and the, "Moon and Sixpence".

I have Travels with Charley, and recently re-read it. Would be interested in reading Geert Mak, which would be an update from Steinbeck. He wrote about his observations in 1968.

I frequently go down to Monterey, California, the Cannery he wrote about in, "Cannery Row" was rebuilt after a fire. His sequel, "Sweet Thursday" are among my favorites. Salinas, where he lived is not too far away from where I am.

I hav already ordered Steinbeck's book. I will reread Mak after that. Most of Mak's books were translated in many languages....

an Absolute ust read is Europe.... In here Mak travels along all the historical scenes of 20th century Europe, (paris, London. Moscown Sarajevo etc etc) He mixes (in his typical way History, investigative jouralism wiht stories of people who lived that history or family mebers of them...

Guess " Reizen zonder Charly" will be translated too

Let me see, among the names I listed there most are Americans. Only Harford and Gladwell is British, IIRC.

Trust me, I feel like an illiterate when I see your list too XD. I only recognise three names, Maupassant, Dahl and Rousseau. I remember many a day when I was younger, reading books like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as well as Matilda. As for the other two, I've heard of them but never had the chance to read their writings.
