Gorgeous pen, my idiotic question is what does the AU stand for?

Do you mean on the nib? It's the Periodic table symbol for gold.

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

I picked up my Special Edition JFK BP pen today. Unfortunately the JFK FP's with F nibs had not come in yet. Hopefully it will come in later this week. I love the BP. It has a feel and balance similar to the Meisterstuck Le Grand ballpoint pen. The navy color resin is very deep and matches well with the platinum colored fittings. It's a beautiful pen.

That's exactly what I meant, thank you.

No problem! The symbol for silver is Ag as you may also see Ag925 or other numbers after it (mainly on pen barrels/caps).

It look much better in real life - glad I went for the limited edition (and the matching cuff-links too :-))

In case you went with the FP only (and the cuff-links) - try the BP as well, I love its weight and balance.

Purchased my blue pen on Friday... Fondled it for 30 seconds before handing it over for a trip to Hamburg and installation of a BB nib.

Now I sit at home and fondle the box.

Dear Friends, just picked up my JFK Special Edition. It is a F nib. The pen is in a very dark blue colour (almost black) and I hope the photos below can change the impression of some of our friend here who had viewed the one I took during a Montblanc event in April.

For those who has previous great character(s) pen, How would you rank them overall (Considering design, features, uniqueness, etc) for fountain pen edition? To me, the Leonardo and Einstein looks interesting as they are 'sci-fi' like, but JFK is really a great leader.

If one can only get one great character fountain pen limited edition, what it would be?

Hitchcock for me, hands down.

Personally, my order of preference for the Great Characters is:

1-Einstein - LE99

2-Hitchcock - LE80

3-Einstein

4-Leonardo da Vinci

I will post some pics in January with both number 1&2.

LE 99 and LE 80 would cost over USD 20k each?

I'm thinking of getting a Leonardo da Vinci and perhaps JFK 1917. Some concerns over JFK as this is the first great character that comes with unlimited special edition.

The JFK comes as a special edition that will be produced only in 2014/2015 according to the unofficial information. Therefore it will be somehow limited. :)

There is also the JFK LE-1917 which is limited to the mentioned number. Same quantity for FP/RB/BP.

There is also an even more limited edition of 83 FP that is already out.

I am ordering 1917 LE edition... As much as I want the smaller LE, It is not in my budget. The 1917 LE has better colour contrast compared to SE.

Looking at your ranking of great characters, You ranked Einstein higher than Leonardo, May I ask your judgement in more details? I liked Einstein for what he did and the formulas on the barrel with nice lines near the clip. Leonardo is a unique design albeit aluminium.

I am absolutely in love with this pen, I am only 27 and need a ballpoint for work because I have to initial 40 page documents daily along with clients also initialing. I really want to pull the trigger on the MB BP JFK but I cannot for the life of me justify spending over $800. What are your reasons for purchasing and maybe somebody can push me over the edge hahaha.

Thanks
