Btw in regards of Great Characters that are limited to 3, I have only seen Leonardo Da Vinci 'Painter' that is made out of Wood & White Gold. Any body has any pics or info of the other 2 that are also limited to 3?

Yes, there is a Montblanc JFK ink coming in the next month(s).

Yes, the color will be navy.

MB Store manager told me Obama was given one when he was in Germany a couple of months ago. He's a big JFK and MB fan.

I saw all pens in February at the Factory. The 1917 Version is fantastic, heavy but well balanced and perfectly designed. The Edition of 3,000 is to my mind too plain. The 83 Version did not attract me at all - it's theme is on the Apollo lunar with a small Portion of Skeleton on the Barrel and cap. Then there will be three further Editions (each consisting of three pieces as with the da Vinci last year) - same design as the 83 Edition but different material.

I ordered the 1917 set :)

Did you see the unlimited version Axis? If so what did you think of that? :)

One set of three was done in wood, the second set in white stone material, the third set was in Lapislazuli. They sold for about 60,000 Euro each and as the demand was exceeding supply they sold them via a "lottery".

At least in February there was no unlimited version planned. Only the ones mentioned (3,000 / 1,917 / 83 / 3 (three sets).

The MB boutique on my side told me that there is no 3000 version. The blue FP & BP are the unlimited version.

Up to now there was no unlimited version with the Great Characters series - but this may well have changed.

I will also check next time I meet somebody from Montblanc.

The literature in the catalog that they showed me shows a limit to the edition of 3000. They also asked me during the time of order if I had a preference for what number in the edition I wanted.

In that case, may be I was wrong. Unlike the 1917 version, the boutique lady did not ask if I had any preference number when I order the pen in April.

Since this is my first time ordering an FP in an edition, if I choose a specific number in the edition, will I receive whatever nib comes with the pen or do they allow you to select the nib before delivery? Assume if you can't select the nib, MB will make a nib exchange at no additional charge within a specific time period. Is this correct?

It depends how quick they communicate with the HQ; as long as your pen has not been finished they can usually organize you the right nib. Otherwise they will have to send it back to get it exchanged (should be free of charge to my mind).

Some of this might be duplicate, some of it new i.e. the materials used for the Montblanc emblems. The boutique I shop at provided me with a personalized link to view both of these pens. However, I was told that due to the password it was trackable and asked not to share it or to take screen shots of the pens. So, I typed up the descriptors of each of the pens.

Limited Edition 83

In honor of the man born to be a leader of international proportions, Montblanc has created the John F. Kennedy Limited Edition 83 – the limitation number refer – refer to the house where Kennedy grew up (83 Beals Street, Brookline).

Kennedy’s three brothers represented by triple cap rings.
His childhood family of ten symbolized in the marks recur ten times on the 750 solid gold cap ring.
Initials “JFK” engraved on the clip.
Two diamonds on barrel represent Kennedy’s children.
Cone adorned with a facsimile of the presidential seal.
Relief decorations on the cap top inspired by the White House.
Cap window decorated with stars and stripes of the American flag.
Handcrafted 750 gold nib bears an engraving of the lunar module.
Skeletonized barrel and cap inspired by the windows of the Apollo II space capsule.
Dates of his presidency engraved on the barrel.
Montblanc emblem in moonstone, as a symbol of his vision of a moon landing.

John F. Kennedy Limited Edition 1917

Triple cap rings represent Kennedy’s three brothers.

Wow all of this back and forth really reminds me of how much MB doesn't accurately share information with their boutiques!

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

Actually I don't quite agree with the statement. If you were a regular at an MB boutique, the sales people would have given you a preview of the brochures MB printed and distributed at the beginning of the year, and throughout the year as well. I already knew that these products will be coming out through the year, as well as the price. The reason why I know is because I compared the information with stores both on the East and West coast as well as in Asian. They all basically showed the same thing.

The problem as I see it is the training really. Because MB has such a diverse product line ranging from leather, to time pieces, pens and fragrance, it's hard for the staff to remember the detail of every product line. They should have much more rigorous training like they do at LV where the staff can speak eloquently on any product they have.

I was only referring to the back and forth comments about whether there is an unlimited edition or not. As I am more than hours from boutiques, I have to rely on information here. I had a similar problem with authenticating a pen where I called numerous boutiques who not only didn't know what I was telling them, but flat out believed it wasn't possible for Montblanc to change something and them not know about it. I did finally find a boutique which proactively sought this information and was happy the man was on my level. This thread just reminded me of that mix up of information I've come across and heard of often.

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

I came across the attached photo of the 1917 edition. Sorry about the quality.
