Jfk Great Characters Edition Pen

Lamb South

Recommended Posts

I went to the Montblanc Boutique in Atlanta, which happened to be the grand opening of their new location. I got to see pictures of the JFK Great Character pen coming out in December. It is truly a beautiful edition.

The 3000 edition, which I have seen pictures of on a different FPN post is gorgeous but the more limited edition (1917) with the lacquered barrel that looks like white rope is simply amazing.

The nib has an engraving of the Apollo lunar module on it which is spectacular considering how much detail went into such a small engraving.

I am definitely ordering one.😄

This is a picture of the more limited edition. Thanks for posting it. Do you like this version or the 3000 pen edition, which has the blue resin barrel instead of the lacquered barrel?

That is the JFK 1913 limited edition costing around Eur 28,000. Much.....much.........much more expensive that the blue resin version :yikes: :yikes:

Hi Sampanel,

For some reason I thought the edition size was going to be 1,917 based upon his year of birth. That price is beyond my budget so i will probably end up ordering one of the pens from the 3,000 edition, as they are priced more along the lines of the Writers Editions.

I am curious to see what the moon quartz white star will look like in real life and how it will compare to the MOP star.

Hi Lamb South,

After seeing your post, I immediately checked with the MB boutique to find out the price cos the pen is really beautiful. But the answer they gave me is ............WOW !!!! In fact I have ordered the 3,000 edition in April and lucky that I will attend the Montblanc Watches & Wonders Exhibition held in the next few days. Hopefully I can see the real thing and take photo for sharing !! BTW, the boutique told me it's a 1913 but I will confirm after the event.

For the moon quartz white star, I don't know whether it is the same as the 'snow quartz' which is being used to make the emblem of the 'Tribute to Montblanc'.

Just checked, the JFK have four versions:

Unlimited edition (blue resin) - around the WE price

3,000 edition - Eur 2,650

1,917 edition - not sure yet

83 edition - Eur 28,000

The above photo posted by Laurel is the 1917 version. Will definitely get the photos if seeing the real one tomorrow !!

I have seen the actual pictures of the unlimited and really liked the blue but it did not compare to the one I posted. I was told the ink will be Navy blue.

Hi Sampanel,

Ed at the boutique confirmed the numbers for the 3,000 edition at $1,035 and the 1,917 edition at $3,765. No information yet on the 83 edition but probably to be launched out of the Boston location. There is no unlimited edition for JFK.

The 3000 edition comes in FP, RB & BP. The 1917 edition in FP & RB. I ordered the 3000 edition FP in medium nib and a bottle of the JFK ink which is navy blue. The 3000 edition is mono color with the Apollo lunar module engraved on it. It is all blue resin with platinum fittings

The 1917 is blue resin and white/silver lacquered to appear as ship rope. Nib is duo color with float ring in gold etched with name Victoria on it. The fittings are platinum and red.

I am really excited since this is my first fountain pen purchase ever. All my other pens are either BP or RB pens. I'm a little nervous since I have never used an FP before and I am a leftie.

I attended the Watch & Wonder Exhibition today and was told by MB staff that there will be four versions. There is no real piece for showing but they showed me the photo of the 1917 & 83 edition, and the sketch of the 6 edition. They are really beautiful pens. Although I've ordered one unlimited edition in April, I could not stop myself from getting the 1917 :D :

1,917 edition (Laurel's photo) - Eur 2,650

83 edition (Dark blue with solid platium) - Eur 28,000

6 edition (with diamonds) - Eur.......

The 1917 edition is gorgeous but I liked the look of the 3000 edition slightly better as the whole barrel is blue. I like the two color nib on the 1917 a lot. If I had the budget, I would have gotten one of each. Sigh

What I saw was in the Mont Blanc catalogue at the boutique. If I had thought about it, I should have asked if I could teke a couple of pics to share on FPN. Laurel's post above has the picture of the 1917 edition. The 3000 edition looks similar except the white lacquered portion of the barrel is blue resin and no red detailing.

I heard this pen was going to have it's own JFK edition ink.

I saw all pens in February at the Factory. The 1917 Version is fantastic, heavy but well balanced and perfectly designed. The Edition of 3,000 is to my mind too plain. The 83 Version did not attract me at all - it's theme is on the Apollo lunar with a small Portion of Skeleton on the Barrel and cap. Then there will be three further Editions (each consisting of three pieces as with the da Vinci last year) - same design as the 83 Edition but different material.

I ordered the 1917 set :)

Totally agreed with the description.
