Uber Stuck Section - Help Request

Hi all,

 

Got a parker victory a couple weeks ago. Pen looked in fantastic condition but section just will not come off.

 

Took the filler button and bar out of the back. Soaked the section. Ultrasonically cleaned it in water, soaked it in 1% ammonia, then 10%, then ultrasonic cleaned it in full strength as it just wouldn't budge... the above all over four days with drying out in between.

 

I've tried heating the section too with a hair drier but still nothing - am I missing something here?

I'm not sure if the Victory has a push fit or screw in section, so I would suggest you persevere with the heat but twisting it anti-clockwise just in case it's a screw fit. Also try gripping the section with a rubber band twisted round it for grip.

 

Try shielding the section from the heat so you're only heating the barrel and keep on trying with heat, but as soon as you feel tempted to give a really hard twist, put it down for a while and come back later.

But even then, if the section is REALLY STUCK, or glued, the pro may not be able to separate them without damage.

+! on the glue. I've had several like this (Duofolds). Patience, soak, heat, patience, repeat...again and again.

You don't really want to heat the section, but rather the part of the barrel the section is in. Hope this helps.

I've put it down for a couple days. Fairly sure It's a screw in section. Will try the rubber band tomorrow!

You don't really want to heat the section, but rather the part of the barrel the section is in. Hope this helps.

I've had a pretty tough time with a few. Took a few days. I think the repeated heating and cooling cycles eventually did the trick, because I don't recall trying all that much harder when they finally gave in. Note that I use grippy rubber pads, not section pliers because I'm not sure I can be trusted with the section pliers. A man's got to know his limitations. I don't soak things for anything longer than hours, so I wouldn't know if that would help.
