"51" Nib Size - Help, Please!

Recommended Posts

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls -

I'm trying to identify the nib thickness for this burgundy "51." At first I thought it was a wet, wet medium nib, but I'm starting to wonder if it might actually be broader than the average medium. Rhodia paper, with a fine on the right.

Any help or insight would be much appreciated!

I agree, judging by the tipping, it looks like a broad.

Is the pen American or English-made?

For the life of me I haven't been able to find any markings that show origin. There's nothing on the barrel and on the sac protector it doesn't say "Made in" or anything:

PARKER "51"

TO FILL

PRESS RIBBED BAR

FIRMLY 4 TIMES

HOLDING PEN POINT

DOWN. WIPE POINT

WITH SOFT TISSUE

Everything else looks normal - formerly frosted cap, pearlescent jewel, black plastic tip at the end of the filler, etc.

Oooh, lucky you to find this! I too think it's a broad.

If you've ever tired of it and want to re-home it, I'd be very happy to provide it a "forever home." :)

If you have a Parker 51 nib gauge just check it. (Funny ain't I.)

I'm going with Medium.

This is the best photo I could get of mine. [11 year old camera, no other equipment, no cellphone, no discernible skills] Sorry!

The paper is Rhodia 5x5 grid, for reference measurement.
