Roll Stopper - My First!

Scriptorium Pens

Recommended Posts

Having a recent client who wanted a roll stopper on his clipless pen was just the push I needed to go ahead and learn how to make roll stoppers. I owe many thanks to John Twiss for his willingness to help! It took lots of practice for me to learn how to do silver soldering so I could replace the thin post on an earring back with a thicker copper post to better hold the epoxy, but I finally got it, and here's the first result -- a little sterling silver dolphin. The pen had just the right place at the top of the cap to locate the dolphin so he would look like he was leaping over a whirlpool of the swirling, iridescent ocean depths:

That roll stopper is an excellent match to the style/color of the pen.

The customer selected the dolphin to go with the material, which is called Ocean Obsidian. I agree it was an excellent choice.

a very nice understated and simple look. i like how it seems as a mere accessory, thus does not compete with the finishing of the pen.
