I may be able to loan you a Vac.

I like that. Just PM me about details if you wish. I like that the post before this said it uses #6 nibs which I also prefer. I want to have a look at the section mentioned here as being too long on YTube before I decide if I really will go for it .

For those of you who might have difficulty reading my writing or reading cursive... here is the short version of the rules.

The pens are part of my collection. I'm willing to loan them out. I'm also interested in loaning them out with an ink that I'm reviewing so we can do some co-reviews.

All members may participate, but I may request you post a bond for the replacement of the pen. I want my pens back in great shape.

I am willing to loan out 3 of the 540s and 2 Vac 700s. For the Vac 700s, the nibs have been customized. For the 540s you can email me if you'd like to try a custom nib. I do not have any XF, F or even M nibs. I have stubs and broads. (Sounds kinky).

Borrower will pay for shipping and insurance both directions.

You may borrow a pen for a month.

I dated a stubby broad, once. I kid, I kid.

I only date nerds and geeks.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

My life has been changed in unimaginable ways....

Why are there fourteen samples of dark plum ink on my desk? Because I still haven't found the right shade.

Is that a problem...??? : : : sigh : : :

Update: Great. Finally found one I love (Lamy Dark Lilac) but I can't get more. Ah, life in my inky world....

That looks like one of his earlier Tomahawks. A couple of mine have slimmer and cleaner looking cuts that look better, but they also do not catch as much when wiping the nib. Both perform basically the same.

Found the marking when doing a tight shot of the nib, amberleadavis. The little bugger was right there, staring at me. :)

Good to know. Definitely need to add one of these to my ever-growing wish list (thanks to all you lovely enablers out there).

And in fairness, I must caution, that Art has been MIA lately. Ask him in advance for the time frame before you get excited, OR ask him if he has one already completed.

Hmm... I may have to get on board and try one of the TWSBI with a nib broader than F after looking at the sample writing posted above :)

I was an F nib girl until Amber initiated me into The Cult of the Broad Nib. Stub sub-cult! :D

I noticed the caveat at the top of his site's homepage; had a feeling this might need to sit a bit lower on the wish list, providing him time to catch up. Thanks for the suggestion to ask about already completed nibs (great idea).

Not sure if you're looking for a modified nib or not, but something to keep in mind---a TWSBI F is different on an ECO than on a 580 (the former is finer, the latter is a touch bolder). Check out the Nib Nook comparison page on GouletPens.com to see what I mean.

Love my stock F and M nibs on the 580s, but wish I'd opted for M only on the ECOs (they feel scratchy by comparison).

For a modified nib, the one you see in the photo was originally a M, further enhanced by Art's Tomahawk magic, giving it a bit more broadness and a delightful flex.

Yet another slippery slope in this lovely pen and ink nirvana. Same thing's beginning to happen to me too...with a stop at flex land in between.

Well folks...it's nearing time to send these lovely treasures back to their home with amberleadavis. It's truly been a delight to play with a couple of Art's nibs (which I'm convinced are a Tomahawk and a Phoenix, based on the amount of cut work). Couldn't help but try both with the Diamine Safari, for a real apples-to-apples experience.

(Original copy, plus the additional pages are on their way too, Amber, including the PPS review, which I'll post in that thread.)

The mod in those pics is the Tomahawk. I have a Phoenix at home and will try to get a shot of it later or you can see it on artsnibs.com

I'd love to see yours---the pics on Art's website seem to be only Tomahawks, as best I can tell.

Thank you!!!

He has played with the Tomahawk grind a couple times. The one you have is an early version.
