Typophile, yours is great too. They both remind me of how much my hobbit script needs work.

Thanks Gandalf! You know what they say, "It's the job that's never started as takes longest to finish." :)

Whoa, gorgeous! I used to practice the Hobbit's runes and script in pencil back in the day before I got into fountain pens. Now I have a new project to try too!

Delightful! You've made a fine match of text and the various scripts here. Please post more images when you have made more progress. I'm another die-hard Tolkien fan, so I'm eager to see more pages take shape.

First of all, thanks for all the nice feedback, I really appreciate that a lot.

Thanks, and here you go with another page :)

You're welcome! Only too true, I'm afraid though now I know what to change for my next book! (if I ever finish the Hobbit of course.) As for it taking a looooong time, I hear ya on that, in fact not being able to see the lines underneath prompted a huge delay in my project until I finally made a lightbox, which has been awesome! Even still I'm only just now finishing up chapter 1. It'll be a very long-term project, which is cool.

Even if you decide to stop here, with the first page, what you do have already is really impressive! Though I'd love to see a whole chapter like this.

One more page :) ...

Beautifully done. I know many Tolkien lovers (my nephew and his wife, for example) and I imagine quite a few people would love to have a favorite page or passage of the book in your calligraphy to frame. The illuminated dragon is wonderfully done. I'm not a Tolkien fan, despite a lifelong love of sci-fi and mythology. It just never grabbed me, but I must say your work is lovely.

Beautiful work! At first glance I thought you were showing a printed version you were proposing to copy. When I realized my mistake, I was just stunned at the quality. On a good day, my cursive is legible; it's fun to see the other end of the spectrum.
