No way to tell without actually holding that one in my hand but I don't see any indications that one is a fake with one possible exception. The clip looks like it is simply folded and stamped. In this particular case I'd really want to know the seller.

Although, I've googled around, and I haven't seen a Dupont with metal cap and all raisin body.

Usually the part our figures hold on to, above the nib, is metal on Duponts.

This one is all black raisine... both the body and the bit above the nib.

Resin sections are not that unusual particularly on older pens.

Wish me luck!

$260 sounds too good to be true. Awesome deal though if it's real.

<script src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/68b4c684/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js" type="text/javascript"> </script> There are Duponts with 14K nibs and 18K nibs. I was once told the medium size ones had 14K nibs and the large and extra large had the 18K nibs; but I've seen some medium sized ones with 18k nibs. If its a fake, it looks very good in the photo.

If the clip is stamped and folded, its fake -- or an absolutely horrible repair job. Also if the clip is stamped and folded it was a great job of photography to hide that detail.

I didn't see any issues in the photos; but the engraving on the pen, should be perfect for the genuine article. The other giveaway is the weight. All the Dupont's have metal barrels under the outer skin which could be metal or lacquer

Not all ST Duponts. I have several that are resin only.

What is the top pen? It's beautiful.

It's a Fidelio. The bottom is an Ellipsis. The Fidelio is rather small, about normal vintage size (think Pelikan 200, 400) while the Ellipsis is a big pen.
