What Do You Keep Your Pens In?

I use a Nomadic PE-08 case. I currently only have four pens in rotation and they all fit in the smaller zippered compartment.

(I'm reusing this picture from an older post; that's why there's five pens in the compartment.)

When I'm at my desk at school or work, I keep my pens in a mug for easy access and so I don't goof and lose it in a pile of paper or whatever. I have a few cases for transit or storage purposes, otherwise: (I do also use glasses cases sometimes, but the one I like I forgot to include in the shot and I don't like it thaaaaat much anyhow)

The grey 2-pen case is Giorgio Fedon and what I use if I want to take 2-3 pens with me when I'm quickly running off somewhere and want a hard case I can use in a smaller purse. I really like it! I'm a sucker for grey.

My Pantone case is my school case. It contains an Al-Star (EF), a Safari (EF), a Metropolitan (F), all inked with bulletproof/eternal Noodler's inks, as well as some mechanical pencils, an eraser, and extra lead. Nothing too glamorous, but it works!

The 4-pen case is from Anderson Pens and is used for every day carry pens beyond the utilitarian school ones in the Pantone case. I usually keep a Noodler's pen or two in there, my Platinum 3776 Nice, and my Pelikan M205.

The 12-pen case is also from Anderson Pens and is more of a storage case than anything; I don't plan on really taking this case out of the house.

I'm aiming to keep my pen collection quite small (have already given away nearly all of the cheap pens I bought but rarely use and am planning on doing more culling) so I don't think I'll outgrow this :)

Jus found a new way to place my daily pens: a plastic lipstick rack. They are perfect in height and mine has different width holes for thin and wide lipsticks (PENS). it's a 9 lipstick rack!

I use a 4 pen, pen wrap if I'm carrying a few pens, if I'm only carrying a single pen I will just put it in my trouser pocket.

I've got a pen box I built with my dad that holds 8 pens I usually keep the ones I'm planning to use next in that. I've also go several gift boxes that I keeps pens that are out of rotation.

The pens that are in use are normally scattered over my desk and a shelf.

I use a homemade pen roll. It's got 10 slots in it, but I measured it wrong when making it so my lamy joy barely fits in :crybaby:

I normally keep mines in a rather make-shift Book Box that I bought from a local store and lined it with a unused cloth napkin.. It works fine but it is starting to get cramped... I wanted to get a nice box but I decided I'll save up for a year to maybe get my first Pelikan.. hmm..

I took a cigar box, put a lining in it for pens, will keep any uninked in there, then for my desk, i have a test tube holder that i keep the few inked ones upright. Everyday i make an effort to take each one, and draw a line with it to keep the ink flowing. Im new so just trying these items out.

At my desk, I have a 3-cup wooden desk accessory from Levenger, a style they no longer make, that has a foam rubber insert in one of the cups with holes drilled in it for eight pens. I have learned not to use it for my Ahabs. My yellow Ahab has developed a textured surface from repeated insertions and removals. None of my other pens have suffered. My Ahabs now get rolled up in bubble wrap secured with a rubber band and kept near to my desk. Other pens go into an eight-pen wrap that my wife made for me.

I like the leather dice cup and test tube rack ideas as well. I could probably make a test tube rack from scrap lumber laying around, particularly some 4x4 posts I have laying around. The tricky part would stem from my desire to line everything with felt. It would probably be a lot easier to make a square wooden cup and line that.

I use a few different strategies at home and at work. For fountain pens that are in the rotation, but not seeing immediate use, I use a Pilot leather 5-pen wrap - good protection, convenient, high quality. Ballpoints, pencils, etc. stay in a tall-ish wood cup. Inked pens on my desk at work sit on a sloped piece of burl wood.

Pens that I want immediately available, but don't want knocking around are nestled in pen sleeves made by JapaneseHandMaden on Etsy. These are made from silk kimono material. You can order custom sizes for your larger pens (the 'stock' ones are too narrow for many pens). The sleeves are not as versatile as wraps, but provide protection, keep cliplesss pens from rolling, and add some color to my desk.

I use this. Holds 48 pens and cost £15 from China with free shipping. I really don't know how they do it because it's incredible value

The inked pens at home live in either a 3-pen case that came with my GvFC Pernambucco, or in this bad boy:

I like the Aston Leather stuff. I use their single pen slip cases as well as a 20-pen case I just got for the holidays.

I carry individual pens in Bosca pen sleeves. I have two. Not sure they are still available but Paradise Pen sells a similar item under their own name.

I also have a no-name leather 3 pen zip up pouch if I want more than one pen with me.

At home I have a wood OMAS box that holds 5 pens (I am assuming originally a set) that I am planning on converting with a pen tray as then it would hold many more pens - probably 20 or so.

I also have a nice porcelain pen 'tray' that holds u to 5 pens (but works better with just three) that I use on my desk. I think I got that one from Pendemonium years ago. They come up with odd bits like that pretty frequently.

The reason I ask is I'm lookin for something that I can use to hold a few pens beside my chair in the living room on my little table. That's where I do most of my writing besides at church. I don't have real expensive pens that I feel need to be kept in cases but I don't want to just lay them around to get knocked off and lost either. I am just wanting a few that are easily accessible. Something a little more original than a coffee mug preferably. :)

What do you usually keep your in?

I've been considering getting an empty ink bottle (I would like vintage, but yours could be your favorite ink or whatever) and using it to store my pens...

I bought an 8-slot cigar box a few years ago. Except the one on my pocket, I keep my pens there when they're at home. Away from home I use a pen wrap Mrs. Bookman quilted for me.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.
