Why Do I Love This Pen?

They are nice looking pens.

First time I saw one was earlier this year at a pen show.

I'm tempted but haven't I read somewhere here that they can be "hit & miss" writers out of the box - or is it my imagination.

Haha. I was generally speaking about the Sport's shape. The massive cap and small length. Ugh... It's so ugly I like it. I think I'll end up getting one in the very near future.

Tom.

I second you.

But I might get it even though it's a ugly pen. I like pocketpens. But I'll say it's ugly because it looks like a brick and not a pen. At least the Pilot Elite looks like a pen.

I had a bum one. An AL Sport, just a horrible purchase gone awry. It leaked fixed twice and still leaked. I gave up. Fast forward and I got my paws on Raw AL Sport. This one works great right out of the box.

I love the raw finish.

It is the pen i grab off the desk when I am going out for a bit.

The finish fascinates me. It is still like new and feels groovy in the hands.

Thanks to those who are posting pictures! Trying to decide between raw aluminum and silver..... You know, you could really flip a coin. They both are handsome pens.

Go for the silver. Unless you like scratches. I like the Raw look, but hate wear signs. I've got a silver on the way.

I liked the silver until I saw the raw; it just looks so much more exciting and matches the nib better. But I can't stand scratches! So either I will have to baby the pen or learn to live with scratches.

One question: are the non raw versions coated with paint that will flake?

It is anodized, so no. The anodizing may wear off over time, but that would be several decades, unless you kept it jangling around other metal.

Just like the keychain beer opener.

Sometimes the cat needs a new cat toy. And sometimes I need a new pen.

I think over the years I've managed to sell quite a few of these for Kaweco. Think it's about time I machined a slot in the side and fit a lever box in mine.

I fear I succumbed to the silver, like yours! I ordered a replacement 1.1 calligraphy nib for it. It comes FRIDAY!

last few days, i have switched out my AL with CS. i'm partial to burgundy/maroon/oxblood, and i like the color of CS. tho the thing is keep getting scratched.. if they make AL in burgundy, i'll jump all over that one.
