Updates On Mb Leather Products Quality?

Hey all.

There have been a couple of threads regarding MB leather goods. I was hoping users could post some updates about how the leather and workmanship has been holding up.

I've been using a single sleeve Meisterstuck pen case for about 8 months and all is still good. This particular example was made in Spain.

I've been wanting either a Meisterstuck 8cc wallet, or a Nightflight 8cc wallet. Any long term experiences with these items?

No experience with the wallets, but I have been using the 3 pen Siena case for almost 2 years. With the exception of some normal creasing from opening the flap the case is still in near perfect condition. I have no complaints about this case at all.

How much are the wallets in question? I have had a Montblanc leather jotter pad before and it was fine quality but it's expensive for what you get. I would rather have a wallet from a company that specializes in leather; you are more likely to get something that is better quality if the company owns and operates its own factory.

I have five MB cases, including a one-pen Siena, a one-pen Boheme, and a one-pen Westside. All have held up well -- as orfew notes there is some creasing on the Siena after several years of use, but absolutely no problems with the leather. I also have a MB leather bracelet -- very well made. I have never tried their wallet, folio, or briefcase products.

I have the Meisterstück selection 6cc wallet and more recently got the same wallet in the soft grain selection. I really prefer and love the dark sheen leather and it still looks like it did when new! I thought about getting a Westside wallet since I'm okay with that type of leather that isn't shiny but I don't like the way the credit card slots are cut. It looks like it will be a tight fit to get them back in. With the Meisterstück ones, it's like a sleeve that cards slide right into with ease. The main thing I was worried about was the logo/emblem since my fat butt would be sitting on it since I assume they're probably just glued on... They have held up though!

I do agree that with their leather line, you are paying more for the name on the wallet but that doesn't mean they aren't very high quality! I say go for it, especially if you can find a gently used one that you want. I bought a used 2-pen Westside zip case and I couldn't see a single sign that it was used.

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

I recently upgraded my MB leather wallet from ten years ago with a new one. It wasn't in any way "worn out" but it had a lot of character on the outside from going in and out of a pocket for a very long time. I have been very happy with the new one, and I know that it will last another decade or more. I can't quite bring myself to throwing away the old one, so I've got it in a drawer as a back up wallet for now.

I have a "regular" smooth leather wallet (don't know the proper name for it) from 14 years ago that is still in more than good shape. I'm not hard on it but haven't taken particular care of it either. In contrast I've given two lambskin wallets and both fell apart after just a few (3-5) years. I only recently purchased a one pen case so cannot offer any opinion on it yet.

Thank you everyone who have posted responses. Good to hear MB workmanship and materials can last. Their wallets are expensive, but if they hold up this well, then the price may be justified.

My cousin spend hundreds on a LV wallet, only to have the stitching start coming loose after 10 months. Of course according to LV it's his fault, not theirs, therefore they wouldn't repair it.

I have no experience with LV wallets but loose stitching will happen on a wallet that's is used. Hermes and Goyard both repair stitches for a fee of course...LV isn't the same quality but I am sure they have a repair department.

These things heavily depend on the user, my cousin's LV wallet still looks new after 2 years. I personally would not purchase a Montblanc lambskin wallet after seeing how (relatively) fragile they are.

My wife got me a Meisterstuck Soft Leather 6CC wallet, still looks new after 4 years of daily use.

My Siena 3-pen case looks brand new and i got that case for 3 years now.

The lambskin 2-pen case is a great case, so sooofftttt!! I don't use it anymore because i sold the pens that were in it. lol. It still looks new though. Not as new as the Siena 3-pen case but 9/10 new.

My Siena 2-pen case looks as new as my Siena 3-pen case after 4 year of usage. All in all, MB leather is great.

P.S: I got a MB belt that is tough as nails. Been using it for 5 years now. Stitching is still on! ;)

I have other MB leather product but i am tired of typing this post on my iphone... :P

been using my MB Siena 1 pen case for the past 1.5 years and other than creases at the top part where the leather folds, it actually look as good as new. I must say, feeling the quality of their leather goods, it does seem pretty good tbh..

I have several MB pen cases, in the Siena (2 and 3 slots), Diaries & Notes (2 slots), Meisterstück Selection (1 pen case), Nightflight (1 pen), and Boheme (2 pens). They are absolutely first quality, and after years of use they still look brand new. However, pen cases are not subject to much stress in my case, as they only dangerous travels are round trips from my desk to the briefcase... So, I am not surprised they behave excellently.

Last year, however, my wife gifted to me a MB Westside multi credit card holder. I had it now for almost ten months of daily use, mostly in the pockets of my jacket but frequently forgot in the back pocket of my jeans... Really, I can not believe the quality of this wallet. It still looks as new.

I am planning to acquire other leather products from MB, beginning with a Westside small block notes and a 2-pens pouch, and maybe a passport holder.

The photo is of an almost 19 year old Montblanc Westside pouch. To be fair, half of it's life was spent in a desk drawer, but the other half of the time it was carried in various cases because the rollerball inside was used daily. Well worth the cost in my estimation.
