I'd like to make a little update:)

First of all, I got the ink from Mélodies Graphiques in Paris. They have all 3 anniversary inks. I'm not aware of any other places that sell this ink though.

I would also tell that I didn't experience any clogging issues just yet. My Lamy 2000 has been inked with Stormy Grey for 4 days now and it had no hard starts or any things of that nature whatsoever. More than that, the ink flows vey well, and it's not thick at all.

Writing with it has been very enjoyable. The grey color is dark enough to be used in daily writing and the gold sheen makes me look at what I've written over and over again.

Hope it helps!

Innocently, you open up a thread. It's safe to go in here, grey is boring. Nothing to worry about, no risk. You don't like grey, you don't need any more ink. Now, you love grey and you cannot wait to click 'buy now'. Dear God, WHY? I'll never learn, it always turns out bad.

Thanks.

No, really, thanks, it's beautiful. I'm in

I called Dromgoole's to get my fix.... the J Herbin rep was there. I placed my order.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

I had a couple samples of Rouge Hematite and I never had a problem with it in the pens I used it in. I never got a bottle because I just don't use that color ink that much and Diamine Red Dragon takes care of that need in my collection.

Oh sure. Rub it in for the rest of us....

I wonder if the sheen would show up at all in a wet fine nib. I certainly hope so, or that would limit the practicality of this ink for me! Even if it's just a little bit, I'd like to see the gold. Otherwise I know that Herbin has since formulated their anniversary inks to be a good deal safer than they were originally, and there's no reason why they would not formulate this safety in mind. Of course, you may have to clean this out more often than you would a normal ink, but I think that's to be expected (perhaps once every two weeks, like I do for Iron Gall).

I thought I would never buy a gray ink...<sigh>

I know my id is "mhosea", but you can call me Mike. It's an old Unix thing.

I am getting it. I just love Rouge Hematite and I am not much on red inks! Some of the others were disappointing to me but the ones with gold are really lovely. I am not giving up and am glad I just now got over my snit with Herbin after finding that sludge in one bottle.

I think I'm going to need sedation while I wait for this. I've even got a matching pen ready for it. (Grey VP Decimo with a Binder italic nib.) I love grey inks anyway, but as I'm a sucker for Rouge Hematite as well, I'm pretty sure I'm the target market for this...

I just placed an order at Bertram's Inkwell. :happyberet:

I just placed an order after reading the comment and posted about it on Reddit. And today I learnt that apparently it is pre-order. Bertram's Inkwell didn't mention it on their page. So in short if you ordered from them it is pre-order.

I expected that. I just wanted to be sure I had a bottle lined up, instead of facing the mad rush when it's released.

The written sample I saw of it at DCSS seemed to be done with some sort of flex nib pen. I don't remember how it did on the un-flexed portions -- but the flexed parts were really mouthwateringly spectacular. :puddle:
