I'm going to make you feel better by pointing out that the pen in the photo isn't the Stainless Steel 2K, it's the much cheaper everyday black one.

Thanks for your attempt to help but my inner voice is adamant about the Lamy 2000 Stainless Steel, as well as a bottle of Rouge Hematite and Bleu Ocean also...

I've never used an ink with gold particles in it before. I've heard of the feed clogging issues with Rouge Hematite, and how they're on their third formulation. Should I be concerned about this ink also? Am I going to need to give my pen a good shaking before each use? If so, that sounds dangerous...

I've used the original formula Rouge Hematite in a cheap Chinese pen with a fude nib, and didn't really have any clogging issues -- and that has big metallic flakes in it. The writing sample I saw at DCSS of this new ink looks more like tiny dusts of metallic flakes (think the gold dusting on some maki-e pens). I suspect that a broader nib or one with a lot of flex will bring out more of the beauty of this ink.

As for shaking the bottle, it isn't dangerous at all. Unless of course the cap isn't tightly sealed. You will want to get the metallic particles back into suspension, but you don't want to get lots of bubbles, so just invert the capped bottle a few times before opening it. I think that should do the trick.

I still can't decide if I want to get this or not. Does the ink "settle" in the barrel of the pen? Also, would this clog the feed of a pen?
