Great, now get playing.!!!

I was too impatient to wait until I have time to do writing samples, so are some quick swabs :) I'll make another thread with these, actually, just so everyone gets a look.

Yep, this does capture ones attention.

Hmmm... so, what's the word on after usage issues? Does it need to be dedicated to one pen, of a specific type?

Or, does it readily flush out to ready the pen for next fill or other ink usage?

I take it the blue (nice color) is sans metallic, which was mixologied with Grey for effect?

Need to know facts before a leap or errors. Thanks.

Yes, I mixed different proportions of J. Herbin 1670 Ocean Blue (a very plain blue ink) with Stormy Grey to see how it would look with the gold sparkle. The grey in the ink makes the blue less bright but I LOOOVE the gold. Now, time to mix with Rouge Hematite, perhaps?

I flushed my Lamy 2000 today after about a week and a half of using this ink (not daily) and the good news is that it was very easy to clean. I used nothing but water, which ran clear after a few rinses. Huzzah. :) :bunny01:

Oh, I'd love to see that!

AWESOME!!!... Thanks so much for this tinysnail.

I go for the blue-black with gold specks... 3:1 or 1:1 ratio...

It's lovely, isn't it? No problem! I started a thread for ink mixes using Stormy Grey to keep track of this experiment and future ones. Next up: SG + Rouge Hematite for a dark sparkly red, then adding some blue for a sparkly burgundy, then more blue to get a nice gold/purple situation. After that, I might try expanding out of the 1670 inks, but for now this is easy re: compatibility.

A great thank you for the posting, I am enamoured with the 1:1 mix and would without hesitation mix the two inks in a decent amount. Would keep some separate for your further mixes. Thanks.☺

  • 1 month later...

I absolutely adore this ink! I expected it to be similar to Rouge Haematite, but it's actually bright glittering sparks of silvergold in a dark grey ink rather than a grey with a lovely sheen in the deeper-shading areas as with my formulation of RH. Marvellous; it went straight to the top of my favourites list :)

UK-based pen fan. I love beautiful ink bottles, sealing wax, scented inks, and sending mail art. Also, thanks to a wonderful custom-ground nib by forum member Bardiir, I'm currently attempting calligraphy after years of not being able to do so due to having an odd pen-grip :D

Same with me as with others, I wanted a grey ink and as soon as I make up my mind to order a sample I read this....so I ordered a sample of it as well. Hoping the sample can produce the same sheen.

J Herbin promised to have them available in December and they did it. A lot of shops got them in stock :) This will be my #1 Xmas stocking filler. It gets even "normal" (non-fp-users...what do we call them?) people excited :)

I took a leaf out of tinysnail's book and have been mixing my Stormy Grey with a few items. It makes a reaaaaally nice shimmery lavender mixed with J. Herbin Bouquet d'Antan, and an icy blue grey mixed with Diabolo Menthe. I've discovered my new favorite ink mix base! Of course, it looks amazing by itself, too.

Oooh! recipes please!!!! I love Bouquet D'Antan and Diabolo Menthe (although Menthe is still on my wish list....maybe a New Year's gift to myself? lol)

I mixed Stormy Grey with Monteverde Purple (1:1) and it is a lovely subdued purple with the gorgeous gold flecks. I can send you a vial of Monteverde Purple if you don't have any (although if you like purple I highly recommend you buy a bottle! It's that awesome!)

Mixed with Diamine Majestic Purple it is a very dark purple, almost black looking, but still appealing with the gold sparkles.

I don't have recipes, unfortunately, I just kind of tossed them together. The Bouquet was about two-thirds full (a 10ml bottle, that is), and I added a little of the Stormy Grey at a time. The Diabolo Menthe was a half full mini bottle, mixed likewise. There are lots of pretty variations for both!
