So does this mean that if you want to subdue the glittery effect for regular office writing, then you are okay if you don't shake the bottle? The comments above about a glittery gell pen don't work for me, but the colour of this ink and the water resistence really appeal to me for everyday writing.

It's a lovely gray on its own, for sure.

Don't believe everything you think.

Shake it...

Got mine, used mine. It's beautiful. VERY gold. Actually, it goes down dark grey and ends up drying as gold. It's almost too lurid! That is why I love it, but it's not tame at all. I think that my secret is that I shook the bottle until the gold dust was totally incorporated into the ink and then filled my pen. I am going to try that with Rouge Hematite which isn't as goldy, but I don't shake that one so that might be why.

I love the fact that the top is now meant to unscrew without breaking the wax (my original bottle of Rouge Hematite had to have the sealing wax chipped off to get into it and that was too bad and an unnecessary exercise. Nifty French idea and nifty French execution (thank you Madame LeFarge). Vive la gris et or!

One thing to note is that the Stormy Grey's gold particles drop out very fast, so if you want it to be pretty much the same from the first fill to the last, you need to be quick.

I know my id is "mhosea", but you can call me Mike. It's an old Unix thing.

Yes, and I compared my Stormy Grey to Rouge Hematite and the former has a LOT more gold than the latter.

I got my bottle yesterday, and inked a pen with a cursive italics nib this morning. I don't see any sheen at all. It just looks like gray ink. It's nice gray ink, but I was pretty excited about making boring notes less, well, boring. In the bottle, it looks like the entire bottom is covered in a layer of gold. Do I just need to shake it before I fill my pens, maybe?

I noticed the shiny effects under indoor lighting at a angle but I also kinda was expecting it too. It's not extremely glittery but it does look different from my normal inks.

Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow

http://www.possets.com/images/jherbinsotrmygrey.jpgThis is what I got. YMMV. I did shake it up and this is pretty vin ordinaire paper. I found that it does not perform well on HP 32lb (!) and it feels like I am now having the shake it up even in the pen if I want glittery goodness. More field trials are needed.

And I tired it out in my Modded Ahab and it isn't very good in it. It railroads like mad. You have to wrrrriiiiittttee rrrreeeeaaaaallll ssssslllllooooowwwwwlllyyyy. But, that is OK. Not a deal breaker. Really loving the grey, it's just right.

Nice mini review! I got mine yesterday and inked up my GvFC Intuition. It's a wonderfully smooth ink in this pen with one interesting, yet expected behavior:

If you undo a cartridge/converter pen after it has been sitting awhile and unscrew it, you'll see the gold flakes settling on the bottom third of the converter. If you don't turn the nib upside down to mix the ink a little and immediately start writing, you'll get more flakes (and sheen) deposited on the paper :)

I am so excited!

Gittah aside (which I love), I'm thinking the ink is more black than grey. However I only have my fuyu-syogun to make a comparison.

Fixed that for you! :lticaptd:

But you're right, I've been obsessively tracking my order every day, despite it being a long weekend. I'm getting the shakes!

Yes, it is an obsession :D

Here's a picture showing how the flakes hang out in a Visconti Ink Pot before shaking:

I am not an addict...I've told you...I don't stalk the letter carrier (anymore) and I no longer dream (every night) about ink and Larry Dromgoole does NOT have a restraining order against me (I'm in another state). Though I do get letters and PMs asking me about ink visitations.

Well, I am looking forward even more to my trip to Paris the week after next now.

I have to admit, that all the glitter lets me now look forward to Paris for other reasons as well. I am not so sure, if I will really like this ink... but I will give it a try by all means and am happy to have something else to do in Paris than just visiting my friends.
