Noodler's: Walnut

I present to test the ink Noodler's Walnut with an interesting shade of brown. The ink appears to be rather oily and feels dry, thereby writing for some people can be discomforting. Interesting color is revealed to us in two ways: written a thin nib seems to earthy brown with a slight hint of red, with a broader nib red is a little bit more. Water test showed his interesting resistance - is flushed red, and remains cold bronze. Shading also satisfy many.

Thanks for this. It's a great ink. I use it constantly in my M-nibbed Lamy 2000 on Rhodia paper and it's glorious. Wet, shady and pleasant to write with.

Nice review! I always love to see the chromatography that some do in their reviews.

 

My experience with Walnut is similar as far as performance goes, but all my writing came out quite a bit darker than your images. Sometimes it was nearly black.

 

Oh and was the lettering used for the header cut (digitally) from your swab done with a nib?

I tried this ink as a sample a couple of years ago, and found it to be very dry and a bit too dark a color for what I wanted. But recently I put the remainder in a much wetter pen, and it was a completely different experience. While it is still a very dark brown, it had a much nicer flow.

this is a great color, though a tad too reddish for my liking. i still have an almost full bottle of this. just noticed it this past weekend when i went through my ink inventory.
