Honestly, I do not like the 146 Solitaire Royal Diamond ... it feels like sandpaper when writing with it ... al the diamonds are not very comfortable. Furthermore ... at least to me ... its far too much "bling"

The 139 is not only aesthetically the most beautiful of the bunch, but also technically far superior.

The modern piston filler mechanism looks poor compared to the magnificent telescopic filler.

Just my 2 Euro cents….

Great !

Got the Solitaire Gold, maybe one day will get a solitaire Platinum.

The Royal Diamond may be a bridge too far !

I know and Im still upset you are changing from O3B to M but If it makes you happy then thats all that matters! Im also from the UK and remember going to vegas many years ago and seeing a solid gold ballpoint in person. Back then it was around 3800 quid with a good exchange rate. I was shocked as the Montblanc brochure I had showed it to be brushed gold but when I saw it and it was shiny polished gold I thought wow!

For me,

139 long window

Black widow 88

Pope Julius 888

This is based on beauty. I am not sure of the practical, day to day usability of any of these. I do not own any of them, just love the looks.

The Winston Churchill is a great looking pen, well I think so anyway.

Did they ever make any of these? Maybe it's a celluloid 149 w/ worn down barrel paint..

I think just the 1950 146G have the wide window

Yes and no is the answer. The early 50's Silver Rings 149 had a version with a longer inkwindow than standard, but not quite as long as say a long inkwindow 139, hence the confusion possibly that it's a true long inkwindow (if that makes sense :) )

The ultimate top three most beautiful Montblanc ever?......... Ever?

Easy :P

1. L139 (long ink window) - in my world, the dictionary definition of 'ultimate'.

2. 149 (1950s, celluloid, long ink window) - To replace the L139, they really had to make it this beautiful.

3. L71 - outrageous luxury and the ultimate partner to an L139.

Has anyone seen the Khan montblanc? I know it isn't "standard"... but it is GORGEOUS and I love the skeletonized "armor" it has...

Saw it in London about six months ago :) it was truly amazing but wished the bottom wasn't that wood like material. Totally ruined it for me, but still with that purple color tint what a pen!
