Can Anyone Recommend A Pen Shop In Toronto Or Washington Dc?

I prefer Fahrney's to Bertram's just because my personal experience has always been that the folks at Fahrney's seem just a bit nicer to me and I have found their sales prices a bit deeper than Bertram's. Both shops sell modern pens rather than vintage ones.

I was going to ask the same question. Bert Heiserman passed away a while back but he had another person in the shop with him so I wonder if it's still up and running. IF SO, It's a terrific place that sells gorgeous vintage pens... I bought my first vintage pen a beautiful burgundy vacumatic...

This sounds like it was a gem of a shop. The website hadn't been updated in some time and when I called the number was discontinued so I did a quick google search and indeed the shop closed in 2013 but by all accounts was a gem of a store and would have been a great place to spend a saturday afternoon. Stopped in Farhney's on the 7th on my usual visit there when I'm in DC. The Sailor nibneister happened to be there that day, doing a one day adjustment on any Sailor pen walking in the door. They ALMOST sold me on a black Sailor with music nib, but i just really don't care for black pens. By the time i decided to buy it anyway, it turned out they did not have one in the store - they were in the warehouse and they couldn't get one to the store until Tuesday. Disappointing, but all the salesmen were nice about it. My friends purchased two Monteverde RBs off the sale table (always check out their sale table - the deals can be very impressive), and my other friend bought a couple of sweet mechanical pencils. Sometimes the Farhney's staff is cold and distant to me when I'm there, but I always try to visit when I have a chance.

 

I'll be in Toronto this time next year; I'm keeping this list of stores in the back of my mind!

Laywines is great - highly recommend it. All the staff are great and they seem to have whatever you need (and even stuff you didn't know you needed :-). Peter Laywine (owner) is usually there and a really nice guy and if you catch Frank he is a fountain of knowledge....yea, sorry...I couldn't stop myself.
