WHAT!?

The transportation fee is $400? That is a crazy fee for inks.

I did say that it's in Hakata which is 1000kms away from Tokyo. And like Tinjapan said, transportation is expensive in Japan. I always pay transportation to him without question because the shop doesn't walk up to him so that he can buy the stuff I want. He has to go to the shop via trains etc. So that he can purchase.

In any case, I end up spending a lot less than what people spend with Atsu or WRE. I paid $11 transportation fee for him to go to shousaikan and buy 6 bottles. That's less than what Atsu charges for his single bottle.

Atsu I feel is based in Kobe so... that could mean something... has anyone in contact with him check the address of origin?

Tokyo. He has shousaikan which can only be bought by visiting the shop. Plus, I have the address from where he ships.

And since we don't all have friends in Japan chasing ink for us... we are all very grateful to have Atsu. He provides the best service to his customers, at times going himself to check stores for the inks we have requested from him.

I have nothing but praise for Atsu, and I know I am not the only one.

Agree totally. He's always extremely polite & good natured, even if he must think we're all bonkers (which we undoubtedly are!) :-D

I guess I came across as complaining of what Atsu charges. That wasn't the intention.

I think his rates are okay. $18.5 for ink and $10 for shipping so it's reasonable. Everyone wants stuff cheaper so I'm just doing that.

P.S. I have slept only for 4 hours so I apologize for any typos.

Thank you Haruka. :)

He is getting me Maruzen renga and sepia when it is in stock. Whereas i have seen writing samples of sepia (I like it), I have not seen any writing sample of renga except from a little color swab.

Can someone post a writing sample?

My enabler bought me renga and sepia from Maruzen. :D

Waiting for enough bottles so that overall shipping is cheaper. :(

I can't speak for Renga (passed on it when Atsu offered it last), but Sepia impressed me far more than anticipated. It's a winner.

;) I wish I have time to travel around in Japan and get full check-in luggage with all inks if it is happening.

Just get a new job and all the vacation time could not even be enough for me to go every single place to find the ink I like. :(

Atsu is really nice and friendly guy and I could not find any cheaper price since he already including all shipping costs, so the prices are decent unless people can find friends or other people who live in Japan and be willing to find these for us.

I asked some cosmetics sellers and they would not be willing to find the ink for me even though I want to pay them extra fee.

Hi guys, a newcomer to post but I have been following this sailor line post for a long time.

I love sailor inks so much, and my favorite colors till now are probably miyainki kakeochi green and rikyu-cha (both of which I am still struggling to find whole bottles of).

I know some Japanese, and so hopefully I can contribute a little to the updates if possible. Please call me Wendy if you like. : )

Bad news for maruzen koubai: I asked one of my friends who has just moved to Hakata recently to check the maruzen bookstore. She went there and was told that koubai had been out of stock for a long time...sigh

Hi Wendy,

Welcome to FPN. I hope you like it here.

Quite strange, my friend called up Tokyo Maruzen and they said Hakata Maruzen has some in stock.

I think your friend may be right. She personally went to the Maruzen Hakata branch instead of calling, so that's more reliable.

Yeah actually I asked her to check it after seeing your post. I guess maybe the Hakata branch did not update this information with Tokyo maruzen. It is a pity that I may not have the pretty ink, but would you mind posting a writing sample of koubai if you try it sometime?

You're welcome. :)

Unfortunately, I don't use pink inks, so that may never happen.

But here is a review which may be useful: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/261433-athena-koubai/

Unfortunately, Bungu no Kura Rihei has been sold out for a while. I would like some inks from that line too. I'll send them a query whenever I have the time to converse more in Japanese.
