plus another pen from joyful...

Atsu says this is a Joyful-2 ink called Tochiotome Red. Here's some info about that special variety of strawberries:

I kinda want to try the peche. /sigh

Honestly... you are not missing much. Is so light (much lighter that the marketing pic) that is unreadable... Not practical at all.

You want a nice pink with a vintage look... go for Diamine Carnation...

Finally found a source for epinard, grenade, ultramarine and peche. :)

Peche is pink, so yuck. :)

Seems everyone has found sources these days, but I find most of these colors icky or doppelgangers to existing Sailor inks.

Ink, a drug.

Well, can't disagree with that. Epinard looks extremely close to Tokiwa-matsu unless both are seen side-by-side. Same with oku-Yama and grenade. Ultramarine is a bit different that Nioi-Sumire.

dhruv_sood if I were you I'd just locate the inks that is not being the doppelganger of the current inks say like looking for peach and apricot

its probably why Onnago-iro days inks Tokimeki and Hachimitsu probably got into heavy demand but I'm not so sure

Looks like no, they changed it in September.

I just went to the ink blending event in Tokyo this weekend. Mr. Ishimaru was wonderful to chat with while he was blending our inks.

At the end he gave us our special-order numbers and said we could re-order at any sailor pen dealer but to expect a lead time of two weeks.

He also said that recently his ink blending clinics have been so popular that he has to limit customers to one bottle/clinic.

If you can go to one in a city that is not Tokyo it is not so busy and you may be able to blend multiple colors/multiple bottles of the same color.

It seems to be from the Joyful Honda-2 store in Utsunomiya city in Tochigi prefecture.

Although all the references I am finding to it seem to be timed stamped circa 2011.

They had(have?) A whole Tochigi prefecture themed lineup, similar to the Gunma prefecture version. I did find a random instagram pic of the shelf.

The Gunma prefecture inks are all sold out at Joyful Honda-2 Nitta. They practically disappeared overnight.

Being from Gunma I talked to Mr. Ishimaru about the Gunma ink. He had an interesting story. Apparently over half of them were created by 1 customer who kept coming to his ink clinics before so many people bothered to come. She name her colors after famous in her home prefecture of Gunma and tried to capture the essence of each place in each color. She ordered replacements so often that the manager at Joyful and Mr. Ishimaru joked that they should make a special ink store using her colors. And then they did.

He also mentioned that he expects the special inks to be mostly back in stock by spring. They have solved the bottle problem and, additionaly, the inks will no longer be hand blended. Demand is so great that he can't keep up so previously released colors will be blended and bottled in the factory.

He may continue to hand blend limited release inks like the recent Maruzen Kyoto lemon. He was proud of hand blending all the bottles but it seems the sudden popularity has taken him by surprise. Many of his old loyal customers are frustrated that they have get up early to fight speculators to buy ink that used to just "be waiting on the shelf."

Switching to factory blending will hopefully ensure that everyone can get some ink.

ohh so thats some new insights

any news with onnago-iro days or thats still off the list?

9 Hougado Pen Gallery Inks

13 Usagiya Inks
