it was stated early it was only available in 100 bottles but considering the logo it would be part of the standard line

The 100 bottles limit is from the link I provided. It's a blog post about all the limited edition goods available at the grand-reopening made by someone who went there. I've been trying to find the official press release for the ink but I haven't been able to yet.

The bottle lable indicates that it is special to the Kyoto store. Perhaps they plan more releases in a new Kyoto Maruzen line.

It's quite possible I overlooked it, but here is an interesting take on Bungbox's recent price increase, with commentary from several denizens of this thread:

http://www.peneconomics.com/blog/2015/9/4/has-bungbox-blundered

Interesting read. Thanks for posting.

I am no economist.. and quite surprise to have an economist verbalizing my gut reaction when I saw the price increase.

The concept of supply and demand is understood, but there are so many other elements that affect that theory. Is not an easy equation, there are way too my variables. Saying this is only Supply/Demand .. is oversimplifying it.

Me?.. I am ready to move to another line of Sailor inks... thank goodnes, there are a lot of them. :D

While I did indeed buy the Blue-Black, I did not the Blue. As both are the standard Sailor inks just repackaged, does any one need or want swatches?

Since sailor just completely changed their bottle style, so is there any place still offering the old style bottle inks?

Pen & Message is. But that's harder to get as compared to bungbox.

On another note, I love the smell of Sailor inks. Feel free to call me weird. I don't have J. Herbin yet but someone said it has a similar smell. Can somebody verify? :P

I too love the smell of Sailor inks. Somewhere I heard that they are somewhat similar in smell to the inks used for brush writing. I have a few J. Herbin inks I do not recall them having any scent.

I agree that the linked blog post is over simplifing the situation for Bungbox; I did, though, enjoy reading the discourse in the commentary section, which (I felt) touched on more relevant matters than the blog post did. Still, neither explains certain issues, particularly a change that very few have noticed, but is rather glaring when one looks at the page of the inks in the new/old bottles. This may tie into the price increase, which, is out of Bungbox's hands.

Either way, they produce too many wonderful inks for me to move on. At heart, I'm a faithful gal.

What else do you think is the reason? I'm really curious.

Demand will stabilize eventually. So this knee-jerk reaction is unnecessary to regulate demand. I don't see any harm in customers waiting for a few months for a bottle of ink. Pen & Message does it, so why not just follow that?

Currently, there is a waiting period of 4-5 months at P+M. I believe BungBox has a higher production quantity than P+M, I may be wrong.

Bottomline is, there is no problem in making people wait a few months. Personally, I would rather wait a few months to get the ink at lower cost than to get the right now at higher cost.

But for most members here, patience is not one of their virtues. :P

I am still interested in your interpretation. :)

I personally have so many inks already, and there are many of the other Sailor custom store inks, there is no rush to acquire Bungbox at the new prices, plus shipping to the US. If prices at Vanness remain unchanged then there are some colors I'll be interested in obtaining. Otherwise, I can find other lovely inks.

Not saying that there are not any other great non-Sailor inks out there but, as far as Sailor inks in the tall bottle go' are thereany that are not in short supply? If one us really after Sailor inks, what lines are currently available? Besides Kobe and the regular Sailor line, are there any others?
