There are only a few shops still selling online. Most of the new inks shown here may only be purchased in store. And one can never know what is really in stock at any given shop any longer.

Vanness sells nearly all the Kobe line, all of Bungbox, while Anderson sells some of the more popular inks from both Kobe and Bungbox.

Seems like Sailor is reinventing themselves quite a lot lately. Many of the new store exclusive colours popping up, have already a very similar colours at some other store or in their own standard line-up.

Or is it just me...?

I don't think it's just you. I think this was somewhat true from the beginning. But it seems more noticeable now as we see more inks from hard-to-find shops thanks to the diligence of miujojo32 and mew.

Hi White_Lotus,

Thank you for the compliment. :) I try to post writing samples of whatever ink I am using at the moment which isn't in the ink review index. I'm not very good at making swatches or artwork so writing samples is the best I can do.

Sort of a policy I have in buying inks, I only buy the colours I like, so at times I may not get all the shop exclusive colours available at the shop. Also, i buy inks only from the shops which existed till 2015 as I find inks released after that tend to be washed out, pale and undersaturated, not always but most of the times.

there is a large color overlap but it depends since not all of these stores sell online and traveling across Japan takes hours the overlapping colors will make sense Edited by Algester

Nah.. not you. I've been saying the same for some time. In any case... I might have reached my Sailor "overload" level.. The new colours... don't do ANYTHING to me..

And looks like a custom pen as well.

The Sailor Shikiori inks are available on the Kingdom Note site, maybe others too but I haven't checked. Only 20ml bottles for 1080 ¥, which is the same price in Japan as a 50ml bottle of regular Jentle Blue, Blue-black, Black, and the regular Four Seasons line.

Four of the inks are part of the "moonlit surface" series of the Four Seasons: Shimoyo, Yonaga, Yodaki, Yozakura. The other five inks are Okuyama, Rikyucha, Shigure, Yamadori, and Tokiwa-matsu from the "regular" Four Seasons line. So apparently the 50ml versions of these are only available outside Japan. It's anyone's guess as for how long.

In Japan, the regular Four Seasons line is now a mix of the "old/current" series and the "new/current" that expanded the line to 16 inks: Souten, Chu-su, Irori, Kin-mokusei, Waka-uguisu, Fuji-musumei, Sakura mori, Nioi-sumire, and perhaps a replacement for Do-you: Miyu ushiodi. I know that adds up to nine inks, so perhaps one is just KN's leftover stock.
