Thanks! Very helpful.

To me the new #58 looks almost exactly the same as #37, maybe only infinitesimally greener. Haven't they just released an Aegean blue which is also very similar?

I think #58 may be quite different shade to #37. Aegean Sea Blue and #58 should be closer, but I'm not getting #58 at this stage so can't compare. This is a comparison of #37 and Aegean Sea.

I looked for some Sailor inks at WES, first time I have been since it was at Kensington, I had been hoping to find some Sailor inks there. Settled for Monkey Hanger instead which is as weird as its name, but its ok as a bright light blue and good for blending, especially with darker blue.

Thanks for the comparison, migo! I think I'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference between Aegean Sa and Shioya Blue...

Kobe ink bottle pins! I just received mine in today's mail and they are very, very nice -- excellent quality, with "tie-tack"-style backs.

Atsu has them listed, and there's also a tie bar.

They are indeed fairly close but I think there's a definite difference. Aegean Sea Blue is lighter and leans more towards turquoise. Shioya Blue has a lot of pink sheen; Aegean Sea doesn't have much to speak of. Shioya is more saturated with minimal shading; Aegean feels very marginally drier but it shades beautifully and is a very pretty colour.

The difference is more pronounced in real life. The attached pic is not a good one - sorry about that.

I'm pleased I have both as they are different enough for this 'blue fanatic' & each will suit different pens :-)

Edited to add: I'd buy Aegean Sea Blue just for the beautiful box. (I know - I'm gullible!) Like all the other Kobe museum/antiquarian series boxes, it is a really unique design.

Nagasawa Kobe has 3 additional pin colors in addition to what is shown above (orange, pink and purple).
