Sailor's Full Ink Lines Including Shop Exclusives Compiled In A Post?

Well said, Barkingpig; I like that turn of phrase, an ink to be sad not to have, which was indeed the way I felt about SPP. (I suppose a non-believer would find this to be madness.) You will perhaps be amused to hear that I fell off the wagon rather quickly, just one day after writing my resolution. This one I think will *really* be the pause point, but the elusiveness of Kingdom Note inks was vexing me, so when one became available on Ebay for a slightly less absurd amount than usual, I jumped. (Jellyfish purple.) I'll be interested to see what magic this one brings. It has not been widely discussed, so I have limited and unclear expectations.

I got 2 bottles of the Jellyfish Purple I loved it so much! In my opinion it puts the Lamy Dark Lilac to shame. I'm still debating on getting more, since Kingdom Note does still have it in stock. You can check out a brief page here: http://imgur.com/a/f3kx5 It's not the greatest lighting, more in the shade/indoors, but I'm not hung up on having proper color corrections etc... (Also I've no idea why stuff uploaded multiple times, there's only 3 different images so ignore anything beyond the first 3)

Thanks a lot Arctic_Wolf. Not sure why I couldn't find anything about this ink, but those pictures make me very eager to get it. And thanks for the follow up comment Barkingpig. There are several KN inks that look very interesting, particularly that blue beetle and of course Lidth's, but for some reason I have not gotten comfortable with the routine of using the shipping agents. A little too Rube Goldberg just to get some ink.

To add to the list of new releases slowly creeping out of Sailor. Two new inks from Joyful 2.
These are both listed as exclusive to their online shop and went on sale on August 25th at 18:00 JST. (They sold out quickly unfortunately.)

A blue and an orangish(possibly, only one writing sample so hard to tell) red.

ネプチューンナイト: Neptune night http://item.rakuten.co.jp/ac-fan/2990030038976/

And

マーズローズ: Mars rose http://item.rakuten.co.jp/ac-fan/2990030038969/

The price has increased to 2,700 yen. Which, with the exception of the Caran d'Ache earth tones, is among the highest price per ml I have seen for an ink here in Japan.

For those too lazy to click on the link here are their promo pictures.

You forgot Bungbox and Herbin 1670 anniversary inks. Bungbox goes for 3240 yen and herbin is also around that.

Edit: must admit that labels on both the boxes look pretty cool.

Neptune Night looks quite nice, but Mars Rose seems pretty boring. Are they going to turn into a planet series?

Agree!

The best I can say is "maybe".

The item description lists the inks as "inspired by the solar system."

Read into that what you will.

Well it now seems that shops intend to prey upon ink lovers by having "online exclusive" inks selling at a premium. In America we have a saying, attributed to a famous carnival promoter: "A fool and his money are soon parted."

Isnt this the entire point of this thread?

I like the Rose and not the blue (how sensibilities differ!). I'm also happy to see that the newest inks have seem to have more realistic, accurate writing samples. Have my complaints on the matter reached them?

Any who, I hope they do a planetary series, as I find such things fascinating.

Actually no, because in the past the inks were at whatever the normal ink prices were, and people could walk into the shop and buy it as well. It was just ink that was sold by a particular store. And very good ink. And it was available for long periods of time and you could even get 3, 4, or even 7 bottles at a pop.

But now, started by Bungbox, another store has produced inks that look very ordinary, put them in a fancy box, increased the price. Now if that's how you want to spend your money, please do. But honestly, it's not that precious. None of the dyes used are out of the ordinary, or rare. The boxes are just regular Sailor Jentle ink boxes with a sticker on the front of the box. And honestly, the supposed "writing sample" are underwhelming to say the least. It's like it says "hmmmmmmm". Bet there are Kobe inks that look exactly the same for much less.

Standard Jentle inks are 1080 yen ($10.61 at current exchange rates) in Japan, $12.50 in the US for the regular inks, $18 for the "Four Seasons". So you decide.

Not all the price difference for the J. Herbin 1670 inks compared to their usual inks is due to the inks being special in any way. It's also 50 ml vs 30 ml. And you get a nicer looking bottle. In the US, normal J. Herbin goes for $11/30 ml bottle. $26/50 ml bottle for the anniversary inks. And those are generally available in any store that carries them.

Yes.

However, this is clearly a subjective matter (even in jest). Some will agree or disagree, Algester--best we move on from this topic before it derails. :cD

Great theme for ink colours. I think Jupiter & Earth offer some interesting colour interpretations. If they do issue a series I hope they don't leave out poor little Pluto.

Earth most likely will be a green now, since blue is already taken up by Neptune. :P

I am more interested in Pluto and Uranus (planet) now. Maybe Jupiter too, if it's red.

.

Considering the mess we've made of our once beautiful planet, perhaps a sludgy brown or just a black will do :-/

Pluto will always be a planet to me. I'd design an ebony-purple shade, I think.

Or maybe a more dusky purple?

Yeah, but they made Mars and orang-ish sort of colour, so maybe they'd so something like this with Jupiter (primarily orange) and make it red. :)

One can only hope.
